Worldwide Logistics: Procurement Leader

As the Worldwide Leader of Procurement for Logistics, you will report to the Sr. Director of WW Logistics and manage Apple’s global transportation/fulfillment spend and ensure customers receive outstanding delivery services from Apple. You will lead a team of Global Supply Managers located around the globe, and will be responsible for the qualification, selection and contracting of transportation and logistics services which support our worldwide operations organization. You will play a key role in maintaining business relationships with the Regional Business Leaders of Logistics and ensure both Corporate Procurement Strategies and those supporting the Regional Logistics efforts are aligned. You will also foster positive business relationships with senior level people across Apple’s Logistics Suppliers (3PLs).


Your team will also handle the Freight Audit process whereby invoices submitted by 3PL’s for services provided are validated and audited prior to being approved for payment.

The team also runs Freight Desk, which is a service for all other organization’s in Apple that require competitive logistics services.


Key Qualifications

  • Experience in international freight, warehousing and domestic transportation.
  • Prior experience leading a team of professionals in a multifaceted global environment is critical.
  • Must be a skilled negotiator, highly analytical, creative and an effective communicator.


Description

Typical responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Developing a strategy for making sure freight is delivered on time to Apple’s customers at the lowest possible cost.
  • Ensuring that freight capacity is available in line with Apple’s projected forecasts and growth objectives.
  • Negotiating freight forwarder, distribution center and transportation contracts and the financial analysis associated with driving an agreement that supports Apple’s objectives.
  • Ensuring WW GSM support of Requests for Proposals (RFP) and additional sourcing efforts (Request for Information – RFIs) which align with WW strategies and regional procurement needs.


Reviewing of all business documents being released to the suppliers: RFPs, RFIs, Statement of Work (SOW), Master Agreements (MSAs), and formal communications. Working closely with Legal and the Sr. Director of WW Logistics.

Ensuring that suppliers are selected who meet the needs of Apple at the terms and pricing favorable to Apple. Handle major procurement actions and negotiations for key commodities or new business segments.


Leading the GSM staff on the management of supplier contracts through regular status reviews with the business and suppliers ensuring that services are being performed according to the SOW and pricing. Ensure active measurement of the supplier’s performance to the SOW is occurring and identification of root cause and corrective measures are established as the need arises. Work with the regional business units and vendors to ensure that costs and waste are being eliminated from the overall supply chain.


Maintaining effective and proactive relationships with regional business teams to ensure support of existing and new operational requirements.


Education & Experience

BA/BS Degree plus 10-15+ years relevant experience and a minimum of 5-10 years in the logistics industry

MBA Desirable
