Who are we hiring?
MSG is looking for a Vice President to lead the Studio Core Technology department based in Los Angeles. As the content delivery team for the MSG Sphere projects, we strive to create world-class content at an unprecedented scale on the largest LED screens ever made.
The VP works in close coordination with the SVP Studio Core Technology, VP Production Technology, Production Innovation leads, technicians, Post Production and IT to identify their goals and to manage deliverables and timelines across multiple projects.
The Studio Core Technology team is tasked with creating and maintaining the studio content creation technology infrastructure. Working knowledge of automation, ingest and data management tools, transcode, plate breakout, VFX asset creation and tracking, rendering, audio processes, color pipeline, review, QC, and final delivery are essential.
This role will primarily focus on the Burbank office infrastructure however there will be a requirement to expand tools to other MSG locations as well as integrating with third party pipelines, cloud rendering and processing facilities.
Experience managing the specification, deployment and maintenance of infrastructure with respect to render servers, real-time/virtual production infrastructure, remote workstations, networking, storage and security systems is required.
The resolution, field of view, and scale of Sphere venues means that the optimization and automation of content creation is a critical role for this Burbank facility.
The VP must be able to lead a team that can work quickly and efficiently, prioritize appropriately, and ensure expectations are met.
What will you do?
- Leading technical projects in alignment with organizational goals including evaluation and implementation of new systems and products.
- Oversee and manage deliverables and deadlines for the studio technology infrastructure specification, deployment and maintenance projects.
- Input on processes for tracking and reporting performance to internal and external partners
- Balance the prioritization between short term solutions and long-term pipeline and technology infrastructure.
- Communicate effectively with all departments to collect and integrate feedback into systems development.
- Generate regular status reports, project proposals, financial budget reports and other executive overviews on systems status and future improvements.
- Leading a large team, making staffing decisions for the ongoing support of Studio systems and artist needs
- Be the subject matter authority on global platform policy and tech guidelines to analyze and communicate the impact of key strategy and market changes
What do you need to succeed?
- Minimum of 15+ years in IT infrastructure for a large film or episodic post production studio or animation facility.
- Minimum 5+ years in a technology leadership role leading large teams across multiple disciplines.
- Detail oriented with excellent communication, organization, budgetary and documentation skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines while maintaining team cohesion.
- Strong technical leader who can successfully collaborate with/across teams to bring designs and projects to fruition
- Situational awareness of the environment for quick and decisive identification of issues and to identify resolutions
- This role requires a “production-minded” and customer centric work ethic helping to maintain the high level of quality associated with the MSG Sphere.
Pay Range
$280,000—$320,000 USD
