VP, Social Media

Synchrony is continuing to build a world class Performance Media and Creative Organization committed to driving results with our retail and payments partners while also delivering leading customer experiences. Within this organization, our Earned Media Team is focused on growth and engagement by identifying and seizing opportunities within Social, SEO and Content. We are seeking a VP, Organic Social Media leading our Organic Social Media efforts. This role will own aspects of organic social media and be responsible for building and leading a team of subject matter experts and reports to the VP, Earned Media.


The VP, Organic Social Media must demonstrate significant knowledge of Social Media including consumer engagement, creative & content strategy, community management, customer care, emerging social platforms, social analytics, and the tactics necessary for delivery of multi-brand enterprise social programs (US based).


Success in this role translates to demonstrated organic social media growth, increased brand engagement, streamlined processes, and stronger internal advocacy for social media as a source of customer acquisition and brand engagement.

 

This position is currently remote, where you’ll be work from home, but may be required to work in one of our offices in the future or occasionally commute to one our offices for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understand the entire digital marketing landscape (web, email, mobile, paid media, search, etc.) and integrate social in at the right times in the user journey in coordination with partners and teams.
  • Partner with Platform Social Media Leaders provide ongoing thought leadership and best practices internally across the Synchrony and externally with clients.
  • Partner with Platform Social Media Leaders in developing the annual and quarterly platform social strategies, the Synchrony brand social strategy, and overall social media roadmap in line with the brand mission, ensuring continuous innovation and evolution for SYF channels and content strategy.
  • Develop the Synchrony editorial calendar process and bring the platform social content strategies to life, both visually and verbally, through the distribution of owned content and curation of social-specific content to ensure platform KPIs.
  • Collaborate with the teams delivering individual social content strategy and asset creation; including integration with internal teams, to deliver content and programming built for social feeds, while ensuring all work aligns with the brand’s visual ID and tone of voice.
  • Assist the development of the social media analytics program through a deep understanding of social media KPIs to create an insights-driven narrative supporting the platform OKRs; use data to analyze performance of each campaign to measure impact and inform platform strategies.
  • Orient social media strategies with platform social media partners for monthly, quarterly, and annual on core Social Platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube).
  • Co-manage social media platforms relationships with the internal teams, evaluate partnership and innovation and alpha/beta opportunities with external vendors, partners, and influencers.
  • Monitor trends in social media channels, tools, and metrics and appropriately apply that knowledge to increase the effectiveness of the program; remain current on social media industry developments.
  • Stay current on social media innovations and trends, new platforms, and channels, and make strategic recommendations on Synchrony’s approach to adoption of new efforts including test and learn.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Operations in monitor customer care and social servicing across platforms to improve response systems, focused on increasing customer satisfaction and related KPIs across the Synchrony brands.
  • Partner with the Corporate Communications team to manage Synchrony’s social external communications approach focused on Synchrony’s brand narrative, also including D&I, crisis, and care approaches. Including but not limited to developing response strategies, coordinating tactical responses with internal partners as well as managing external crisis response partner team and messaging.
  • Develop a social listening program.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree. In lieu of degree, HS Diploma/GED and 10 years social experience with in-depth expertise across multiple platforms (e.g. Facebook/Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Snapchat) 
  • 6 years of organic social experience with in-depth expertise across multiple platforms (e.g. Facebook/Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Snapchat) 
  • Experience in social strategy, planning and execution for both awareness and engagement campaigns 
  • Experience with translating client marketing goals to social strategy 
  • Experience in social creative, content & production by channel, tone of voice, visual ID and social media messaging strategies.
  • Experience developing measurement plans with analytics, understanding and communicating the complex data challenges of social media platforms 
  • 2+ years of experience managing people 


Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience in financial services, retail or healthcare 
  • 6+ years of agency experience in a Social Media role 
  • Customer-focused, understanding the impact that social media can have on brands, business goals, NPS, and customer satisfaction
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging by brand, platform, channel and audience
  • Demonstrates a structured and methodical way of working, with the ability to prioritize competing demands 
  • A self-motivated individual who is able to operate autonomously and take control when required 


Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 – 170,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
