VP, Senior Copywriter

Synchrony is continuing to build a world class creative organization committed to driving results with our retail and payments partners while also delivering leading customer experiences. Our Digital Creative team is focused on creating and producing campaigns and content for digital channels. We are seeking a VP, Copywriter, with deep expertise writing for digital and social channels to join a growing team in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key responsibilities include development of all forms of online content, such as concepting digital banner ads, crafting compelling social media posts, scripting video, and writing emails. Our ideal candidate understands that users' time is limited, and space constraints are always a concern. You always tell a story whether it's a simple tweet or a long form case study.


This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver strategic, engaging copy for digital creative assets, including website landing page copy, digital banner ads (dynamic and static), social media posts, and emails.
  • Partner with Creative Director, Art Directors, and Brand stakeholders to ensure messaging works in design and ladders back to campaign, business, and strategies.
  • Create compelling content that aligns with overall content and media strategy and internal client requirements.
  • Support treatment and script development for video (with an understanding of pace and recording production) /motion graphics.
  • Assist with write-ups and presentation of creative concepts for presentation to clients and internal teams.
  • Ensure consistency in our brand voice, messaging and approach across all digital written materials.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Advertising, or related field OR in lieu of degree, a high school diploma and 10 years of work experience in an agency environment or as an agency contractor
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional advertising agency experience preferred
  • Extensive experience creating content for social media, digital advertising, websites, web applications and mobile apps, preferably in a digital agency.


Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience leading diverse and remote teams responsible for writing copy
  • Digital first writer with experience across multiple social/media platforms.
  • Knowledge of best practices for writing for key digital platforms and properties.
  • Proven ability to write for both B2B and direct to consumer audiences.
  • Ability to write for web (SEO copywriting with keywords, title tags and understanding of what shows up in the meta description.)
  • Strong communication and written English skills, including good spelling and grammar.
  • Team player with a solutions-oriented mentality, and an open, positive and collaborative communication style


Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 – 170,000.00 USD Annual


Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
