VP, Sales Training

The VP, Sales Training is responsible for leading the learning strategy, design, development, and delivery for Field and Inside Sales teams across the Health and Wellness platform. This role, through the support of a direct and matrixed team, is charged with ensuring sales professionals have expert knowledge of products and capabilities and can effectively use the sales process to uncover opportunities, overcome objections, and change behavior to drive increased purchase volume (usage) and credit applications. This role also has responsibility for driving the strategy for sales enablement platforms and evolving the sales training ecosystem across all skill levels to support the changing needs of the business.

 

We’re proud to offer you flexibility! This position is eligible to work remote, where you will work from home, and may require you to occasionally commute to one of our hubs for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Remote candidates will be considered who live near any Synchrony hub including: Alpharetta, GA, Chicago, IL, Costa Mesa, CA, Stamford, CT, New York, NY, Altamonte Springs, FL, Charlotte, NC, Dayton, OH, St. Paul, MN or Phoenix, AZ.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy, design, development and delivery of skill assessments, curricula, and content to drive growth through development of the Health & Wellness sales organization.
  • Partner with sales leadership and key stakeholders to drive adoption and use of sales enablement platforms that support assessments, micro learning, knowledge checks, skill demonstrations, and skill reinforcement.
  • Continually engage and influence training colleagues to evolve and support the needed learning solutions, technologies, and deliverables to ensure success of the team goals and priorities.
  • Proactively identify and research training capabilities and solutions that solve for unmet needs, improve upon current capabilities, or add to the overall training program.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to sales trainers (direct reports and matrixed) who prepare new sales representatives by conducting sales training classes; develop individual coaching plans; provide resources and assistance to sales representatives and management.
  • Partner with sales leadership to develop and deploy training for sales managers and National Account Managers (coaching, sales leadership, advanced selling skills)
  • Determine ongoing training and coaching needs through direct observation; review of assessments; evaluation of sales and quality data; and consultation with sales managers on training needs.
  • Develop and manage a sales training program calendar that serves the unique needs of all parts of the sales organization.
  • Deliver training content to all sales levels through multiple platforms including live classroom training and virtual training as well as recorded programming.
  • Ensure that policy and procedure resources, training resource materials and classroom materials are kept current and updated.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company, competition, product, pricing, and served markets through field engagement, call listening, trade show participation and strong connectivity to organizational resources.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with functional and business stakeholders.
  • Actively engage and regularly update key stakeholders on the status of projects and programming, the results of ongoing competency assessments, and the implementation of new learning strategies.
  • Manage an operating budget and deliver on goals and objectives.
  • Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 8 years of equivalent experience in Financial Services.
  • 5+ years of Sales leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in development and implementation of learning programs including needs assessment, content development, measurement, and delivery.
  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing across a matrixed organization
  • 5+ years of experience presenting ideas and recommendations to senior level audiences
  • Proficiency (MS Office Suite)
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time

  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills and proven ability to work and influence across all functions and levels in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering results; detail oriented, capable of handling multiple projects at once, and meeting deadlines.
  • Technically savvy with the ability to quickly adopt and master new tools/technology.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and similar technologies.
  • Experience building and leading strong, diverse teams and deliver results.
  • Critical thinker; innovative problem solver; team player; self-starter.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 – 200,000.00 USD Annual


Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
