VP, Production Procurement

San Francisco, CA

We are seeking a results driven VP of Production Procurement which reports to the leader of Global Operations. You will have responsibility for hardware supply strategy, cost management and partner relationships through the end to end product life cycle. 

  

In this role, you will: 

  • Develop a team of supply chain professionals embedding Samsara’s cultural principles in the team - as a leader at Samsara, you will champion and role model our values and cultural principles as we scale globally: Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team
  • Create and deliver strategies that enable the Samsara supply chain to meet company growth objectives at the optimal service level, cost and quality
  • Direct and oversee a global organization's strategic sourcing and supplier management functions
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to execute on customer requirements on time in full
  • Hire, develop and manage an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team that delivers results through active coaching and mentoring
  • Manage all aspects of supplier performance for quality, delivery, and cost including innovation and new product development
  • Develop policies and high-level objectives related to the selection and management of direct material suppliers and telecom providers
  • Build and maintain a strong business management system that scales with Samsara’s growth
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Vision in predicting future business needs and determining objectives to achieve them


Minimum requirements for the role: 

  • 15-20 years of experience developing and managing supply chain organizations in high-growth, innovative and complex organizations, ideally having served as a leader for a public company / companies over their career
  • Knowledge of modern procurement practices and ability to define and implement infrastructure requirements that enable new organization capabilities
  • Understanding of hardware product development and telecom management preferably in the electronics industry
  • Ideal candidate has seen scale and has the ability to work at pace in a high-growth company and has a blend of startup and enterprise experience
  • Approach business problems from an inquisitive mindset, looking to question assumptions, bring creativity to solve problems, and has a strong goal and outcome orientation
  • Experience in supply strategy, sustainability, relationships and negotiations
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The position will require the individual to be responsible for the management, direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of an assigned team and staff. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock units (RSUs). RSUs are awarded at hire and may be refreshed annually. Additionally, as a pay-for-performance company, there are additional RSU grant awards for top performers which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.


The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including , job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.


$239,760—$299,700 USD
