The VP Global Procurement is responsible leading procurement efforts to efficiently and effectively enable functional partners to maximize the value they receive from suppliers to meet short term and long term business objectives. This role will be responsible for Non-Product Related/Indirect purchasing including logistics that delivers value through building a program focused on cost, strategic positions, and overall business impact through technology implementation and collaboration between procurement teams.


The position is a member of the Global Leadership Team working collectively across functions, Business Units and R&D.


Key Figures

  • Spend under direct responsibility: ~3.2 billion USD
  • Direct Reports: 6-8
  • Total Organization: 300+ (including Procurement Business Services)
  • Region: Global


Responsibilities:

  • Build a sustainable procurement organization, engine and create a culture that provides bottom line value in line with company strategy.
  • Ensure “fit for purpose” processes and tools, technology and analytics are being implemented across the organization, including financial and operational KPIs to drive results.
  • Ensure a close collaboration between procurement and other functions demonstrated by a “make it happen” attitude with accountability and ownership
  • Build an industry leading procurement team that functions as a key part of the end to end supply chain by implementing robust spend management controls, technology and leverage business process and services efficiencies through seamless execution of programs and processes to support the business strategy.
  • Drive supplier management to the next level establishing key relationships and partnerships for the long term.
  • Mitigate the overall risks related to the supply of materials and services
  • Lead the global organization in work ethic, accountability, and ownership of delivering value in all ways possible to improve Corteva customer service and absorption and adaptation of programs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Facilities and Real Estate strategy for stronger partnership and alignment with the business strategy


Qualifications

Position Requirements (Competency / Experiences)

Education

  • BS in Supply Chain Management or Engineering and Master of Business Administration. or APICS certification a plus

Skills & Competencies

  • The ideal candidate is an experienced, but well rounded, procurement professional, with a track record of delivering outstanding results. S/he brings a best-in-class toolbox and hands-on experience from using various levers to deliver outcomes.
  • Strong operations experience is just as important as procurement experience
  • The ideal candidate is a strong leader, who thrives in a challenging and fast paced setting, and sees every opportunity to make an impact as a value driver. S/he is results focused and possesses the ability to create partnerships across the organization, attracting and retaining relevant talents to ensure strong and healthy team dynamics.
  • The relevant candidate will connect well with stakeholders, getting support for ideas and in turn supporting business leaders to deliver on their targets.


Experience

  • 5+ years as the head of procurement with over €1Bn of spend in an international organization, preferably with a combination of centralized/de-centralized spend management; 10-15 years overall procurement experience with significant part of career spent in operations roles including procurement, supply chain planning, manufacturing at the forefront of driving transformation in an international growth business
  • Track record of exceptional procurement savings across multiple categories. Demonstrated tail spend management with implementation of spend control methods across a company.
  • Demonstrated experience leading off-shore service centers to leverage Business Process and Services efficiencies.
  • Deep understanding of logistics procurement globally.
  • Effectively improving sustainability in procurement and the supply chain, experience delivering value with direct and indirect categories with a proven tool kit spanning all procurement value levers
  • Experience with indirect category management as well as other fragmented categories
  • Specific experience in Seed and Chemicals industries with demonstrated understanding of upstream chemistries and feed stocks considered a plus


Language Skills: Fluent in English. Additional languages are an asset.


Travel: Regular Travelling expected (30-40%)
