VP, Portfolio Credit

Alpharetta, GA

This role leads a team in overall Credit Management efforts for the Synchrony General Purpose Credit Card (GPCC). This includes credit and operational risk evaluation, delinquency/loss mitigation, development and enforcement of risk policies, and portfolio monitoring. This role acts as the key member of the cross functional GPCC team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct cross-functional teams in the development of strategies to acquire new profitable customers through multiple channels while controlling for risk.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to drive smart growth and customer satisfaction while delivering safety and soundness in the portfolio
  • Create and deliver presentations to senior leadership and team members to influence increased funding, expand cross sell opportunities, and facilitate informed decisions
  • Be a leader in driving enhanced strategies using champion/challenger and advanced techniques such as design of experiment to improve profitability while managing credit and fraud risk
  • Provide deep analytics to improve pricing, offer, and product enhancements
  • Coordinate multisite/country resources to ensure delivery and accuracy of monthly MIS and reporting needs to meet internal and external requirements
  • Coordinate planning cycle with other teams to ensure consistency in business plans
  • Responsible for providing clear guidance to the organization on risk appetite and prudent growth
  • Maintain effective and credible challenge of critical decisions and business processes
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years in consumer risk management, credit management, or similar role, or in lieu of a bachelor's degree, 12+ years in consumer risk management, credit management, or similar role
  • 3+ years leadership experience in enterprise portfolio management
  • Use of advanced technical & analytical competencies in driving effective strategic goals within a significant functional area


Desired Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with consumer and commercial lending products and practices
  • Experience with direct marketing programs and processes including prescreen
  • Experience operating at a strategic level as part of a senior leadership team
  • Master's Degree or MBA with advanced analytic focus, or equivalent
  • Experience with SAS or SQL or similar analytical tools


Grade/Level: 14


The salary range for this position is 115,000.00 – 230,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
