VP, Financial Planning & Analysis

We are currently seeking a results-oriented professional to join the Shutterstock team to lead our FP&A function. This role will be responsible for all Business and Corporate FP&A functions including strategic planning, long-range financial forecasts, budgeting, and planning. You will be responsible for key elements of our evolution towards a subscription business model and recommend strategies to improve KPI’s for a range of eCommerce, Enterprise, Platform and other strategic product offerings. Shutterstock has a strong financial position with approximately $400 million of cash and zero debt and is NYSE listed with a market capitalization of approximately $3.3 billion. . 


The role will report directly to Shutterstock’s CFO and have regular interactions with the CEO as well as the Executive Chairman. 


Responsibilities:

Business FP&A:

  • Improving the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance with a deep understanding of SaaS and subscription KPIs such as churn, net revenue retention, conversions, ARPU, and average order value. 
  • Providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies
  • Partner with head of business to develop long term financial plans
  • Develop and present strategic insights about the business
  • Align functional goals and strategies to broader global initiatives
  • Lead performance diagnostics, budgeting, forecasting and management reporting
  • Understand business drivers and recommend measures to further improve results
  • Establish efficient processes for monthly and quarterly performance reporting for optimal result
  • Partner business functions to plan and analyze key performance indicators, prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting, analyze financial results and variances, assessing business performance and risks, and communicating key messages to business team.
  • Conduct business and resource productivity analysis; Interpret and present key findings for senior leadership audience


Corporate FP&A:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and yearly budgeting process for Operating expenses, Headcount by functions and business units
  • Review and advise departmental budget preparation with individual managers
  • Own and actively manage the functional headcount and partner with HR 
  • Prepare monthly forecast packages and assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly board of director materials
  • Provide analysis and insights into variances between actual and expected financial results including identifying and executing on cost reduction opportunities 
  • Develop management reporting to track headcount and opex
  • Address ad hoc financial analysis requests and inquiries
  • Work with the business to execute strategies to maintain adequate expenditure and investment controls
  • Partner with Finance Operations including rev ops, accounting, AP and AR/Cash collections to bridge actual results to plan

 

Requirements:

  • Extensive leadership experience in FP&A within a SaaS or subscription-focused eCommerce business environment is a must, including a deep understanding of subscription business models and performance marketing 
  • BA or BS in Finance or Accounting preferably with an MBA from a top tier business school
  • 10+ years relevant experience in finance, analytics or planning as a member or leader of a world-class FP&A team
  • Preference for candidates with recent experience in Tableau (BI), Anaplan (CPM) and/or Workday (ERP)
  • Ability to work directly with CEO and Business Unit heads to drive growth and profitability 
  • Experience in owning and managing operating expense, headcount, and financial modeling
  • Enthusiasm for complex problem solving utilizing financial modeling and analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with data visualisation tools
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts to non-financial audiences
  • Business Acumen. Knowledgeable of functional elements which are important for business profitability in order to influence, drive and positively impact business results
