The VP Finance, Controller is a key member of the Universal Studios Hollywood Leadership team reporting to the SVP and CFO, Universal Studios Hollywood.
This role is not only a strategic partner to all Universal Studios Hollywood operations, but also to Universal Destinations & Experiences and NBCU Controllership. By overseeing staff supporting Corporate Financial Reporting, Revenue & Accounting Operations, Fixed Assets, Payment/Banking Operations, Audits, and our onsite Vault, this individual is broadly responsible for accurate, GAAP compliant reporting of Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park and CityWalk financial statements.
- Lead and direct the overall Universal Studios Hollywood accounting function.
- Manage direct reports and a combined staff of over thirty employees by providing leadership, coaching, career development, and performance management.
- Support CFO in various Financial Reporting and Controllership strategic initiatives/ad hoc projects. This includes innovative business system improvements (e.g. SAP S/4 HANA transition) and new business accounting standards requiring research of highly complex issues.
- Partner with Universal Destinations & Experiences Group Controllership, NBCUniversal Corporate Controllership, and other NBCUniversal Finance teams that provide specialized support functions such as tax and insurance.
- Lead development of internal control policies and standard operating procedures for compliance with local statutory and US GAAP policies as well as fraud mitigation.
- Supervise the day-to-day General Ledger operations, chart of accounts maintenance, cash management oversight, fixed assets, purchasing cards/systems, and accounts receivable/payable.
- Lead the month-end close process including review of journal entries, internal reports, consolidated financial statements, variance commentary, corporate data requests, and other analysis/disclosures as required. Communicate timelines with departments to ensure all deadlines are met and results reported accurately.
- Review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts to ensure reconciliations are accurate and submitted in accordance with NBCU account reconciliation policy.
- Oversee external and internal auditors assisting with year-end, SOX, and all other periodic internal audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Finance or Accounting
- Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
- Proven ability to prioritize and adapt in a deadline driven environment
- 10+ years relevant senior financial management and accounting experience
- Track record of building and sustaining relationships with internal and external parties
- Proven ability to lead a team with strong organizational, planning, delegation, mentoring and coaching skills.
- Exceptional communication and organizational planning skills
- Process and system awareness, including the ability to identify and mitigate risks
- Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
- CPA License or public accounting experience preferred
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: 180k-$240k (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
