The Vice President, Customer Development for Club, Home Improvement, Professional Channel & Indirect Trade will provide direction and leadership across complex channels and sales teams across Sam’s, BJ’s, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, 99 Only, Five & Below, distributor and re-distributor networks.This position will drive the overall business strategy, customer relationship and joint business plan to deliver category, sales, profit, and share growth targets across the channels.


This role will lead direct team members and manage cross-functional partnerships to deliver customer-centered strategies. Critical internal partnerships include marketing, supply chain, business insights, and finance. You will have direct responsibility to deliver sales objectives on volume, spending and retail execution while also owning the P&L. You will be formulating and executing a strategic plan to ensure you reach maximum long term volume, profitability and customer service.  

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue goals, identifying growth opportunities and market trends. 
  • Implanting both in-store and online planning into Customer/RE strategy to optimize the omnichannel experience
  • Connect the strategic end of the consumer experience ACPL funnel to the development of strategies and execution on the ground
  • Implementation and execution around the Customer Segmentation and Strategic Choice model focused on seamless integration with Supply Chain segmentation
  • Embed Brand Growth Plans into commercial strategies and tactics
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of outside sales representatives and cross functional team members, providing guidance and support to ensure individual and collective success. Actively attract, retain, motivate and inspire a team of high potential talent, with empowered and accountable individuals capable of managing a complex & highly visible business
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with key customers, drive our customers growth agenda, in collaboration with our Marketing Team, innovation pipeline and Tom’s and hello GMs, to deliver a holistic GTM strategy with One Enterprise mindset
  • Product Knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in our product offerings, staying informed about industry advancements to effectively communicate value propositions to customers.
  • Sales Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, providing regular reports to executive leadership. Implement strategies to address challenges and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including Retail Marketing, category Management, RGM, marketing, customer service and logistics, to ensure a cohesive and customer-centric experience.
  • Actively participate on the North America Customer Development Enterprise Leadership team led by North America Customer Development EVP.
  • Training and Development: Implement training programs to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the sales team, fostering continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in CPG experience in Club, Walmart, Target and other Retail environments and has managed P&Ls and navigated global, matrixed organizations
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a successful track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • You have strong communication skills: Ability to educate and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • You are curious- You are constantly looking for opportunities to improve and seek creative solutions. You dig into the reason behind the numbers, are able to look at the results and find out the reasons for what is driving those results and guide the team accordingly. 


Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range$: 250,000 - $ 300,000 USD


Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.


Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
