Vice President Sourcing and Procurement
The Vice President of Sourcing and Procurement is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing AWH's sourcing and procurement strategy. This individual will lead the newly formed centralized sourcing and procurement organization to ensure the seamless integration of procurement with our broader supply chain and operations teams to optimize product availability and process efficiency, drive cost savings, and enhance overall organizational performance.
AWH is a rapidly growing organization, and this role will be critical in ensuring the sourcing and procurement team is integrated with our operations to support our growth and evolving needs strategically and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on execution capabilities to build a high-performing sourcing and procurement team that aligns with AWH's business objectives.
Location: This is a remote position with preference to candidates located in AWH's state's of operation: IL, MI, OH, PA, NJ, MD, MA.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Establish and lead a high-performing sourcing and procurement organization, including the recruitment, development, and retention of top talent.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sourcing and procurement strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals.
- Collaborate with senior management and operational leaders to understand business needs and translate them into effective sourcing and procurement strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of sourcing and procurement processes.
Functional Execution:
- Oversee the development and execution of category management strategies for all key spend categories; serve as the Category Manager for critical spend categories.
- Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to develop robust category strategies.
- Ensure that category management plans deliver value, including cost savings, risk management, and supplier performance improvement.
- Oversee the development of RFPs, RFQs, and other sourcing documents and lead the execution of strategic sourcing to develop strategic, cost-effective relationships with suppliers.
- Lead negotiations with major suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure the best quality, cost, and service performance.
- Implement supplier performance management processes, including setting performance expectations, conducting regular reviews, and driving continuous improvement.
- Manage supplier risk by identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies to optimize procure-to-pay processes, ensuring efficient, cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with broader supply chain initiatives and operational needs, enhancing overall organizational efficiency.
- Develop and implement best practices and key performance indicators for procure-to-pay processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements in all sourcing and procurement activities.
- Develop training and development programs for sourcing and procurement team members and conduct training sessions as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sourcing and procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful sourcing and procurement strategies.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Must be able to interface at all levels of the organization and with suppliers to solve problems when facing evolving demands.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of sourcing and procurement processes (category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, procure-to-pay, and supplier management).
- Ability to develop category and sourcing strategies by identifying opportunity areas.
- History of effectively directing and leveraging procurement spend in assigned category areas by leading cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing and maintaining strong supplier relationships and leading a supplier relationship management program.
- Strong leadership presence and negotiation/contract management experience.
- Experience managing the end-to-end procure-to-pay process, including requisitioning, ordering, invoicing, and payment.
- Knowledge and experience working with sourcing and procurement software tools.
