Vice President of Marketing

Chicago, IL

This is a role that will make direct impact on the North America business while working with iconic brands. There will be an opportunity to be a part of a wonderful highly strategically focused broader Personal Care leadership team that is responsible for the majority of the North American Business that focuses on Life without Compromise and Happy Kids as well as lead a Child Care team that offers the opportunity to have direct impact on making Happy Kids.  Role is directly responsible for overall brand health and the development of the NA Brand Development Plan for Goodnites® and Pull Ups® which make up the Child Care brands which includes brand positioning, category vision and strategies, and strategies and advertising/promotion strategies and annual operating plans. Directly responsible for the NA implementation of strategic initiatives focused on the consumer. The incumbent develops and executes annual NA Child Care brand business plans and marketing plans that deliver financial objectives (P&L).  Leads and influences cross-functional partners in a matrix organization to include R&E, Product Supply, MRA, IMP and Sales. Manages a team of 3 direct reports and 7 indirect reports plus the cross functional leadership team that this role leads.


ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Owns delivery of business objectives for the brand including net sales, operating profit, gross margin and market share
  • Leads the development and delivery of 3-5 year NA Child Care Brand Development plans:
  • Brand foundational tools; long term brand plans; category vision and drivers; brand communication; product architecture
  • Develops advertising strategy and campaigns
  • Leads the communication of strategies and plans with other business and functional teams to ensure understanding, commitment and linkage to achieving business results
  • Provides leadership for the development of the 5-year Business Plan and provides portfolio and rolling business plan input for year 3 activities
  • Development and delivery of NA Child Care brand annual budgets and annual marketing plans:
  • Budget setting and P&L management.  Ongoing, manages P&L to stay on track in delivering quarterly and annual financial commitments. 
  • Mega category portfolio management and resource prioritization
  • Development and implementation of the ABP for the NA Goodnites® and Pull Ups® brand
  • Compliance to Enterprise, NA and functional processes and best practices
  • Enterprise programming support
  • Ensures shopper/user insights are identified and translated into total solutions that contribute towards the delivery of the Global Business Plan.
  • Leads cross-functionally with R&E and Supply to develop programs within IMF to explore and evaluate opportunities
  • Ensures 3-5 year brand strategies are integrated into growth and commercialization strategies
  • Ensures the effective, efficient translation of 3-5 year strategic development plans into actionable 0-2 year translation plans across the mega category
  • Ensures fast, effective commercialization of mega-category shopper/user solutions
  • Effective integration and collaboration with the Customer Development organization
  • Involvement and participation with key retail customers
  • On a quarterly basis communicates Marketing plans, progress, and results to the entire organization including manufacturing locations
  • Development and management of a performance driven organization that attracts, retains and develops top talent and embraces change


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel up to 15% of the work time. Travel may also include business travels via aircrafts and motor vehicles to various locations.
  • Role is based at the K-C location in Chicago, Illinois


QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications

  • Graduate Degree (or Undergraduate Degree with equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of business experience with a history or demonstrated business success; P&L management; extensive knowledge of the CPG industry as well as North American markets
  • Specific marketing and brand building expertise including experience in new product development and insight development
  • Experience identifying and deploying brand vision, visual identity, and communication/campaign ideas
  • Strong skills in creative development and agency relationship management
  • Strong understanding of the customer perspective (internal, external and/or consumer), including a keen understanding of customer basic business operations and the organizational levers (systems, processes, departments, functions) that drive profitable growth and customer decision making.
  • Capability to activate customer knowledge by integrating with internal (KC) P&L levers, in the development of business strategy and operational plans.
  • Cross-functional knowledge/direct experience in all aspects of business including manufacturing, product & technology development, product supply and human resources.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization driving collaboration across businesses and functions
  • Demonstrated capability in leading and inspiring diverse teams and individuals to work together to accomplish common goals
  • Able to use understanding of consumers, categories and customers to create and seize business opportunities. 
  • Able to transform vision and strategy into actionable plans
  • Demonstrated personal credibility through strong communication skills, achieving results, and trusted relationships


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA with emphasis in marketing
