Vice President, Global SVOD Strategy

Culver City, CA

We’re looking for a Vice President of Global SVOD Strategy to define and lead transformational projects that improve our strategic positioning and value capture for SVOD and support our mission to be the world’s destination of choice for anime.


You will develop a deep understanding of Crunchyroll’s business and architect executable strategies to address our market opportunities and operational challenges for SVOD.


You will drive the strategic growth plan for SVOD globally, ensuring that initiatives are appropriately prioritized and on a trajectory to achieve our company and business objectives and key results (OKRs).


You will also cascade the strategic growth plan into regional growth plans for SVOD, calibrating with local growth opportunities and market-specific nuances and needs.


You will lead the development of our SVOD learning agenda with dedicated market and competitive scanning to identify and track our strategic bets for testing.


You will partner with domain leaders on all aspects of the SVOD strategy to ensure that our strategic plans are consistent, integrated, and executable across the subscriber lifecycle, from acquisition and conversion to engagement and retention, and on key commercial levers, including pricing, promotions, and packaging for subscription plans.    


You will be a member of the Strategy & Planning leadership team and report to the Head and SVP of Strategy & Planning, as part of Crunchyroll’s COO organization. 


The Impact You Will Have: 

  • Understand Crunchyroll’s company strategy, how it translates to our SVOD strategic priorities and goals, and how to use those insights to direct the company and SVOD business OKRs and priorities in a clear and consistent way 
  • Manage the global strategic growth plan for SVOD with cross-functional initiatives appropriately prioritized and sequenced to achieve company and business OKRs and accelerate value capture  
  • Cascade global strategic growth plan for SVOD into regional growth plans, incorporating local growth opportunities as regional initiatives and sequencing these initiatives relative to each region’s growth expectations 
  • Lead the SVOD learning agenda with dedicated market and competitive scanning and coordinate cross-functional testing and experimentation on our strategic bets to synthesize findings into insights and recommendations    
  • Oversee the global and regional assessment of our commercial levers, including pricing, promotions, and packaging for subscription plans, and manage the cross-functional implementation and reporting of key changes
  • Develop and implement reports and dashboards on key SVOD initiatives to foster understanding, accountability, and coordination across the organization; communicate progress in a recurring cadence and format    
  • Organize, and on occasion lead, projects with a broad set of contributors, collecting input from relevant business and functional teams and ensuring alignment on goals, plans, and deliverables     
  • Support Finance as a key stakeholder for annual planning cycles, including long- and mid-range planning and annual budgeting, with validation and updates of key inputs and assumptions to inform the SVOD business model   
  • Draft communications and own content development for executive updates on relevant topics for Crunchyroll’s President and COO’s internal and external meetings, offsites, and other speaking engagements 


What We Look For: 

  • 20+ years of relevant experience in a similar business leadership or GM role for a media and entertainment and/or DTC company; management consulting experience and/or MBA preferred   
  • Deep expertise in growth and business strategy formulation, data-driven decision making, business and organizational development, and GTM planning with track record of achieving quantifiable business results 
  • Extensive understanding of media subscription models and DTC principles and methodologies working in dynamic and global media and entertainment organizations with diversified consumer product portfolios
  • Excellent executive and cross-functional communication and relationship building skills with senior leadership teams  
  • Proficiency in business operations, process optimization, and/or program management skills

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, employer matched retirement savings, time-off programs, and progressive health benefits and perks.
