Vice President, Global Communications

  • Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive communications strategies for EM&D and Online and drive the overarching narrative/messaging for each business area. Develop annual integrated communications strategy working closely with the Leadership Team and HRBPs for these two functional teams (30%).
  • Pillar framework that supports corporate and function strategy 
  • Clear KPIs and process for gathering data and insights to support strategy, business leaders’ objectives and messaging framework 
  • Message framework to guide storytelling/key narratives across each function by stakeholder (i.e., employees, prospective talent, other external stakeholders etc.) 
  • Reputation strategy for each function in line with company brand reputation and business goals; specifically focused on building out the Beauty Tech narrative
  • Integration of transformation milestones and engagement tactics to celebrate journey 
  • Process for updating senior leaders on communications progress vs. goals
  • Key tactics to support strategy 
  • Develop impactful and comprehensive executive leadership platforms for the EVP, Enterprise Marketing & Data (EM&D), and the President, Online to position each as thought leaders in the beauty and tech industries, supported by differentiated and engaging platforms that resonate with key stakeholders (30%). 
  • Develop differentiated leadership platforms and opportunities in the areas of media, speaking engagement and thought-leadership opportunities 
  • Ensure placement in relevant lists and rankings in the beauty and tech industries
  • Consistently deliver key messages and achievements to internal and external audiences on behalf of both leaders 
  • In partnership with the EVP, EM&D, and the President, Online, develop position statements on key issues in the tech, analytics, and consumer data areas; identify risks and develop mitigation strategies as needed (20%)
  • Create optimal engagement, excitement and understanding about the ongoing transformation of EM&D and Online through driving informative, transparent, and sensitive employee communications for high-priority transformation projects and complex organizational changes (20%). 
  • Engage employees along the transformation journey through providing ongoing updates on how the functions are evolving and the anticipated changes/benefits and enabling forums to share their questions and consumers.
  • Partner closely with HR on major change initiatives 
  • Drive synergies across corporate functions where appropriate to enhance efficiencies across the function communications team 


Other responsibilities include (10%):

  • Develop and implement strategic, compelling communications for ELC’s ED&M/Online/IT groups to inform and engage ELC stakeholders: employees, prospective talent, media, executives, etc.
  • Develop and lead external and internal Beauty Tech media strategy
  • Lead RFP for external boutique communications agency specializing in tech
  • Serve as strategic communications partners for ED&M/Online/IT and their leadership teams 
  • Support deployment and cascade of leadership messaging and strategic priorities 
  • Leverage resources and expertise of the broader GC team and Regions for alignment and amplification of EMD/tech/digital narrative
  • Align messaging and creative to ELC enterprise brand and the Company’s corporate strategy
  • Amplify content from EMD/Online/Tech across the enterprise utilizing company channels such as myELC, email blasts and ELC social channels
  • Implement best practices across groups and identify/develop tech narrative, interdependencies and synergies 
  • Support HR in drafting internal leadership announcements and executing internal functions / events, such as café sessions and guest speaker series

 

Qualifications

  • Public relations/communications experience, including experience in the tech/data analytics industry
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, solid organizational skills, visual skills, ability to prioritize 
  • Experience in executive communications directly supporting leadership of a company or comparable entity
  • A sense of cultural awareness and deep appreciation and understanding of social and political issues 
  • Personal gravitas and poise in articulating sensitive messages to senior individuals and groups, both face-to-face and in writing 
  • Creative thinker, with proven ability to generate new ideas and identify solid design concepts 
  • Strong executive presence and experience guiding senior executives at global level in Communications issues 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication 
  • Strong collaborator and team player
  • Experience working across teams in support of large events
  • Experience building relationships with members of the media
  • Works effectively in complex situations and makes solid decisions in time-bound challenging moments; works effectively on cross-functional teams and projects
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment
