Vice President, Fixed Income Credit Analyst

New York, NY

BlackRock’s Fixed Income team manages more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest array of investment choices across model-based and fundamental investment styles. BlackRock is seeking a candidate to join the Financial Institutions Fixed Income Group (FIG) as a credit analyst in NY. FIG manages $350bn in AUM for insurance clients globally.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze credit worthiness of corporate issuers and structures with an emphasis on credit tenant leases
  • Evaluate relative value of credit investments within the credit tenant lease universe as well as other illiquid credit investments of similar risk and make recommendations to FIG portfolio managers
  • Actively work to source new investment opportunities in both primary and secondary markets
  • Actively monitor the credit risk of portfolio investments including publishing credit analysis to both support trade decisions and ongoing surveillance
  • Work with lead portfolio managers to advise them on holdings the analyst covers
  • Support and compliment FIG’s broader Structured Credit effort
  • Establish strong business relationships with numerous internal teams and particularly BlackRock’s Credit Research Team
  • Speak with clients in response to their inquiries on credits the analyst is responsible for reporting


Knowledge/Experience:

  • Multi-year experience as a credit analyst focusing on investment grade retail issuers
  • Demonstrated ability to model company cash flows, balance sheet and income statements
  • Ability to use and create technology to enhance efficiency
  • Knowledge of credit tenant leases is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of high yield retail issuers is preferred
  • Structured Credit experience is preferred


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Degree in a field such as Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering or similar field with relevant experience. CFA is preferred
  • Successful experience working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; drive to succeed
  • Demonstrated planning and organization skills and the proven ability to work efficiently under pressure. Ability to work with challenging situations in a mature manner
  • Flexible, responsive and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion
