Vice President Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Vice President of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for ensuring high‐quality, timely, and accurate financial reporting. They are also responsible for technical accounting considerations that arise. The Vice President will report into the Senior Vice President of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting, and will complement other members of the Corporate Accounting, Finance and Legal groups, as well as Corporate Executives. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts policies, practices, and procedures.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversight and responsibility for periodic reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Collaboration with Investor Relations on earnings releases and related materials
  •  Collaboration with Corporate Accounting and shared services on accounting policies and application of GAAP Financial reporting and audit support for subsidiary audits
  • Technical accounting research, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint venture transactions, leasing, stock‐based compensation, and capital market‐related transactions
  • Oversight and responsibility for adoption of new accounting standards
  • Review of other financial related information, which may include debt and lease compliance
  • Perform accounting research and recommend issue resolution


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 10+ years of technical accounting and SEC reporting experience with a minimum of 6 years of Big 4


PREFERRED:

  • Master's degree in accounting or related field
  • Position available for remote work; West Coast Preferred


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • CPA License


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong and demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, technical accounting research, and ICFR Excellent leadership skills
  • Detail oriented; ability and desire to be in the detail
  • Ability to prepare and review financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and accompanying footnotes Strong research and business writing skills required
  • Ability to work in a fast‐paced, rapidly changing environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with completion in a timely manner
  • Ability to review and assess current processes for efficiency/quality and recommend new processes as necessary
  • Strong computer skills essential, particularly Microsoft Office products and Oracle
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
  • Able to be flexible if needed for work outside of normal business hours.
