User Experience Designer

New York, NY

Billie is looking for a multi-faceted User Experience Designer to join our fast-paced digital product team. As a UX designer, you contribute to user research, usability testing, wireframing, and prototyping to help deliver a high-caliber user experience. You will own production design for CMS updates to support our growing portfolio of clean beauty products. The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed and highly motivated to develop frictionless, high-quality experiences for Billie customers!


What you’ll do

  • Use business requirements, market research, and collective wisdom of the team to assist in developing use cases and high-level requirements
  • Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of on-site experiences
  • Support product merchandising updates on-site as we launch new, exclusive beauty products 
  • Contribute to the development, organization, and maintenance of our design system
  • Develop conceptual sketches, diagrams, wireframes, hi-fidelity mockups, and prototypes
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to refine functional requirements and adjust priorities as needed based on user research and design
  • Work closely with Engineers to communicate design details and ensure the solution is implemented as designed
  • Understand users and their needs by planning and conducting user research and basic data analysis, user testing, and establishing feedback loops
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with local and remote cross-functional teams
  • Be a UX advocate incorporating best practices when designing key interactions and workflows, while working closely with developers to see your design through to deployment


What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years of experience in an individual contributor role on a Product Design team
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, finding value in receiving constructive feedback and synthesizing insights from business leaders, product management, and engineering
  • Understanding of usability and design techniques such as usability testing, heuristic evaluation, wire-framing, and prototyping
  • A portfolio or work samples that showcase a range of end-to-end design solutions in UX design in both personal and collaborative environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization
  • Understanding of how to create usable, accessible, and modular designs that can scale to millions of users
  • Comprehensive understanding of web technology, best practices, and user-centered design principles
  • You are the voice in the room that always puts the user first


Bonus

  • Experience designing D2C Ecommerce experiences
  • Familiarity with subscription management flows
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.)
  • Experience with marketing email strategy & production work
