UIUX Game Designer

Remote (Qualicum Beach, BC)

Cloudhead Games is the veteran VR studio behind the multi-award winning titles, Pistol Whip, an action-rhythm shooter (GOTY, DICE Awards) and the fantasy adventure series, The Gallery (GOTY, VR Awards.) Cloudhead has partnered multiple times with industry legend Valve to create tech demos, with the most notable being Aperture Hand Lab, a humorous Valve Index controller demo set in the Portal Universe. Always innovating, Cloudhead is also known for its early solutions in VR locomotion/comfort with snap turns and teleportation, as well as VR motion capture and hand interactions.

Cloudhead Games is a fully remote company working Pacific Time Zone hours.

As a UIUX Game Designer at Cloudhead Games, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience and interface design for our upcoming games. Working closely with the Engineering, Design and Art teams, you will translate concepts into engaging and intuitive user interfaces that enhance immersion and gameplay.

What you would do:

  • Collaborative closely with the Engineer, Design, and Art teams to develop and implement innovative UIUX designs for our overall game vision
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize and iterate the UIUX designs, incorporating feedback from the teams to refine the user experience
  • Design intuitive user interactions, including menu navigation, in-game interfaces and interactive elements, optimizing for game-specific challenges
  • Creating static and animated UI art assets
  • Fine tune designs in-engine for optimal feel and flow
  • Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback to identify pain points and areas for improvement, iterating on designs to enhance user satisfaction and accessibility
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, technologies and best practices in game design and UIUX principles 

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience as a UIUX Designer in games
  • Shipped at least 1 game in UIUX role
  • Experience with UX design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Miro)
  • Experience integrating UI elements in a game engine (Unity, Unreal)
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your time efficiently

Nice to have:

  • Experience in VR
  • Experience in Spatial design
  • Motion Design skills

The salary range for this position is CAD $80k-$120k.
