Transportation Manager

This position is responsible for managing logistics, transportation, and supply chain activities for Express, LTL, TL, air/ocean transportation to/from Domestic and international suppliers and customers. Provides analysis and reports of industry trends, risks, and anticipated impact; and utilizes that information to ensure cost effective on-time delivery to the customer. Develops and run annual RFPs to ensure we are paying competitive rates across all lanes. Analyses the supply chain transportation network as a whole.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

  • Lead and manage transportation activities for domestic and international freight
  • Act as main point of contact for all transportation vendors
  • Develop, review and communicate procedures for transportation to ensure Godiva’s continued compliance, reduce lead times, maximize customer satisfaction 
  • Analyze & develop a logistics strategy based on changing business needs to optimize Godiva’s supply chain activities (e.g. cost reduction, service enhancements, strategic partnerships and customer collaborations, continuous improvement opportunities)
  • Work with freight forwarders, customs brokers, inventory control, and supply chain ops on inbound/outbound flow of merchandise.
  • Negotiate and build strong partnerships with providers leveraging our spend to drive cost efficiencies and high service levels
  • Work collaboratively and foster strong work relationships within the organization including Sales, Customer Service, Warehousing & Inventory, Procurement, and Planning. Assist other departments with coordination of shipments
  • Focus on and enhance inbound processes and tracking
  • Leads freight audit process improvement as it relates to air, ocean, TL, LTL, specialized services
  • Develop and review performance through the use of key performance indicators including customer-specific scorecards.
  • Responsible for the transportation budget as it relates to air/ocean cargo, as well as TL and LTL activities, and all related fiscal planning activities including but no limited to monthly accruals
  • Keep current with the latest transportation industry trends, technology, and systems
  • Lead and mentor Transportation Analyst
  • Collaborate with business partners to implement process & system change when issues are identified

 

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Logistics management
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong decision-making skills and an understanding of where projects fit into overall Company and development strategies.
  • Strategic thinking – ability to establish the vision and future direction to enable to company to maintain a leadership role in the professions and industry
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external customers, lead conversations/meetings and influence others
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic work environment and manage competing priorities
  • Drive cross-functional projects to support new strategic initiatives and business opportunities for the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects - prioritization, planning and task delegation
  • Drive complex business analysis to identify business opportunities to improve revenue and profitability
  • Work cross culturally with global affiliates
  • Strong computer skills in spread sheet applications, word processing applications and Power Point
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively with other departments
  • Experience with both domestic and international transportation management
  • Experience working directly with TMS systems
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Innate ability to translate technical metrics / terms into business related syntax
  • Excellent communication skills, able to respond and interact with both internal and external stakeholders at every level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Assertive and able to effectively manage crisis / high stress situations calmly and professionally
  • Credible team player with good influence skills, particularly with regard to qualitative, abstract concepts
