Technical Writer, TikTok Designer & Developer Tools
Responsibilities

We're looking for an experienced technical writer to work with our Tools, Interactive Engineering, Multimedia, SDK, Product Management, and Marketing teams to create best-in-class technical documentation for designers and developers so they can build using TikTok creation tools and SDKs.
You'll be able to grasp complex concepts and translate them into concise, easy-to-understand tutorials, guides, release notes, and other documentation and learning resources. As an experienced technical writer, your portfolio includes writing samples with examples of how you conveyed complex technical information to both experienced and new users.
- Plan, write, and manage technical and process documentation and learning resources
- Proofread and edit content written by others to ensure completeness, accuracy, and clarity
- Define general best practices and style guidelines for consistency
- Respond to requests for updated content for top issues or new launches
- Partner with the Website team to update content for new releases and iterations
- Collaborate with the Localization team to ensure content resonates with a global audience
- Attend demos and meetings to stay informed on functionality enhancements and modifications
- Gather feedback from the designer and developer community to iterate on content
- Deliver results in a dynamic work environment with limited supervision
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience authoring technical documentation required
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS/Markdown language
- BS/BA in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Instructional Design, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Self-starter who can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and still pays attention to the details
- Technical writing portfolio including, but not limited to: user guides and tutorials, release notes, software or hardware documentation, style guidelines
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working on a global product with international partners in different time zones
- Experience in a design or software development environment
- Knowledge of mobile platforms (such as Android, iOS) and familiarity with desktop tools or game engines (such as Adobe, Unity)
- Strong interest in working with new technology and software tools
