Team Leader Environmental

Provide support in the execution of the environmental programs at the facility. Drive technical solutions and provide leadership and direction for environmental aspects of plant operations, including engineering and maintenance projects. Oversee and drive results to meet sustainable development program goals and objectives. Oversee the plant air, water, spill, wastewater programs per Federal, State or Local regulatory requirements. Manage and maintain data to ensure proper, effective, and efficient system operations and to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements. Build and provide tools, processes, training, and implementation support to assist facility personnel in managing legal/regulatory obligations and Lamb Weston environmental and operational program requirements.


Job Description

  • Manage, monitor, track, and oversee operations of the process wastewater system
  • Monitor, track, and oversee operations of the air, stormwater, spill programs
  • Support environmental activity at production facility under the direction of site Environmental Manager and Plant Manager
  • Ensure all facility staff receive appropriate environmental training
  • Support and participate in the EHSS Pillar Team and Sustainable Development Program
  • Track and manage sustainability metrics information (data, goals, award applications, etc.)
  • Environmental Program Management support
  • Environmental audit and regulatory inspection preparation
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventative actions
  • Ensure all program requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Utilize EHS information management software (IMS) to track and document related compliance task completion
  • Coordination/scheduling of sample collection and data analysis at internal and/or third-party laboratories
  • Analytical data management and QA/QC review
  • Plan and schedule regular preventative maintenance activities as well as facility outage maintenance activities
  • Work with environmental manager to complete periodic compliance reporting
  • Implement continuous improvement activities to optimize system performance and reduce overall costs
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, biology, or chemistry (preferred)
  • 0-3 years progressive experience in the environmental field
  • Must have knowledge and experience in basic laboratory methods and practices including sample handling and QA/QC review and evaluation
  • Ability to interpret lab results and develop action plans for system correction
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable
  • General knowledge of environmental regulations desired, specific knowledge of wastewater, air pollution control, spill control, and stormwater regulations required
  • Good leadership skills required
  • Good presentation skills preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply math skills to manage systems
  • Strong English skills required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required
  • Strong computer (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, SAP, etc.) capabilities required


Equipment Operation:

Must learn and understand lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures for all equipment in work area. Must learn and understand safe operating procedures, chemical safety, and spill prevention practices. Must learn and understand environmental permit conditions and what is necessary to demonstrate compliance with each condition. Provide expertise and training to plant operators to successfully manage and operate equipment to meet permit requirements. Understanding of food processing sanitation and quality control needs in manufacturing consumer food products.


Physical Demands:

Ability to work in office environment, manufacturing operations and environmental control systems. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to move up and down stairs throughout the shift. May be required to work off-shift or facility outage periods

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $57,380.00 - $86,080.00
