SVP Global Strategy, Product Management and Marketing

The Senior Vice President, Global Strategy, Product Management and Marketing, Cepheid is responsible for Cepheid’s strategic planning, product management and marketing functions globally. Functional responsibility includes Strategy development and execution, Business Development and M&A support, Product Management and Franchise planning, Demand Generation, Branding and Digital Marketing. This role will be responsible for the enterprise approach in strategic alignment between new product development and commercial sales with a total revenue of $3.5B (2023 projected).


Reporting to the President, the SVP, Global Strategy, Product Management and Marketing will develop and evolve Cepheid’s strategy, influence and support new product development, and launch with specific focus on the impact in accordance with Cepheid’s overall business strategy and financial targets. This role will work closely with the other senior leaders over R&D, Commercial, Medical and Scientific Affairs, as well as others, to collaborate on the overarching strategic business priorities.


This role is intended as an entry point into DHR’s president succession planning funnel.


In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To:

Strategic Planning and Business Development Activities

  • Set 3 – 10-year strategic planning and manage all aspects of the strategic planning cycle
  • Support strategic corporate initiatives across Danaher and diagnostic platform
  • Manage M&A funnel and drive due diligence in close collaboration with corporate Business Development
  • Develop process for tracking changes in market position in key segments, competitive monitoring, market shares, disruptors, policy changes
  • Manage Business development activities with high focus on Pharma and Government collaborations


Global Product Management

  • Set direction and develop strategies platform, assay, software and connectivity product portfolio
  • Drive on-market value realization of product portfolios and lead WW
  • product/disease area initiatives
  • Manage allocation of product investments across Hospital, POC and Emerging market core segments and manage product roadmaps for new products, innovation, and sustaining investments.
  • Establish and drive PLM priorities across product portfolios to deliver core growth, quality, and margin enhancements
  • Leverage DBS Innovation Processes to ensure a strong and disciplined approach to bring products to the market within time and budget
  • Partner with MedSci and R&D to scout emerging technologies and therapies that drive diagnostics innovations and disruptions. Engage with leading healthcare institutions to assess emerging innovations and/or joint development opportunities


Business Ownership/Partnership

  • Manage overall revenue goals for Cepheid at an enterprise level, closely aligning with the commercial organization to drive execution
  • Drive growth through key partnerships, support in the identification, due diligence and integration of acquisitions that enable further growth acceleration
  • Represent the company with customers, partners and vendors


Worldwide Marketing

  • Develop and execute world-class marketing strategy, planning, and tactics globally
  • Directs the brand positioning, brand architecture, and customer messaging efforts worldwide
  • Drives demand generation and digital marketing initiatives
  • Owns corporate and marketing positioning and messaging
  • Develop long-range and tactical annual marketing plans that are integrated globally
  • Set budgets and directs global investment into marketing and market development activities


Building People and Teams

  • Leads by creating trust, psychological safety and accountability
  • Drives high performance standards across the business with a high focus on accountability
  • Hires, develops and leads diverse individuals by creating an engaged, empowered & inclusive work environment
  • Demonstrates outstanding leadership and sets high people management standards and expectations
  • Builds future leaders and ensures a strong succession pipeline


The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include:

  • Previous relevant executive leadership (VP+) experience with the ability to influence and motivate others and guide successful product management, engineering and commercial teams
  • 15+ years of experience working in a clinical, medical/healthcare, biotechnology, life sciences, or high growth environment where innovation is at the forefront
  • Experience in a commercial – marketing or sales role would be strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or Business required
  • MBA or advanced business degree strongly preferred
  • A track-record of building a product portfolio with significant
  • A visionary leader who can inspire a workforce by promoting innovation, leveraging industry expertise, and create a competitive advantage in the market
  • Created high-performing teams by attracting, developing and empowering diverse talent to take ownership for growing the business and celebrating successes and excellence

The salary range for this role is $252,000 - $420,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.


This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
