Sustainability Data Analyst

Remote New York, NY

We are looking for an ESG & Sustainability Data Analyst to help the Sustainability Function manage its sustainability-related data, analyze findings and conduct research on Environmental, Social Governance (ESG) related matters. This position analyzes structured and unstructured sustainability and business data to provide insights into the sustainability impacts of Colgate’s operations throughout its value-chain. This role will require data mining and advanced analytics skills to conduct relational-analysis, categorizations. Statistical analysis and forecasting.


This person will also work with various functions to help build and collect sustainability data and ensure data accuracy. They will conduct research on impact valuation models and provide recommendations to better link sustainability actions to financial returns. An understanding of the Sustainability and ESG data, as well as reporting tools on these areas are preferred. This role might also require support for the ESG reporting processes.


Responsibilities

  • Help build the internal ESG Analytical strategy.
  • Participate cross functionally to build better data collection capabilities.
  • Create and maintain robust ESG data.
  • Visualize sustainability and ESG data through sophisticated analytics.
  • Build now-cast or forecast models to predict company ESG characteristics (GHG emissions, water use, material use, impact on deforestation, for suppliers who do not disclose those metrics) by using ML and other forecasting techniques.
  • Apply data mining and ML libraries to analyze noisy sustainability-related data and drive conclusions.
  • Analyze financial and ESG data, conduct scenario analysis to understand financial impacts of ESG issues.
  • Provide solutions to the unstructured data ESG environment and data gaps
  • Analyze survey data from internal and external partners.
  • Analyze open source and social media data to identity trends in ESG and sustainability.
  • Connect with internal partners and handle projects to collect and manage data.
  • Provide support for ESG reporting as needed.
  • Help build Colgate's ESG data infrastructure and design our analytics platforms.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong passion for Data, Sustainability, ESG technology and finance.
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in an analytical role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization.
  • Interest in maturing technologies such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence or Natural Language Processing.
  • Proven project or work experience using one more languages such as R, Python or SQL.
  • Experience manipulating large data sets through object oriented programming (Python, R or other statistical programming).
  • Experience managing structured and unstructured data using tools such as SQL, Python, Tableau and other systems.
  • Ability to assess and benchmark online data solutions and suggest innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience with survey analytics, data management and understanding data structure.
  • Ability to engage with collaborators, communicate results and suggest solutions through translating technical knowledge into business needs.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Research mentality with a focus on sustainability, scenario analysis and impact valuation modeling
  • Knowledge of the ESG reporting frameworks, such as SASB, GRI, Bloomberg ESG, CDP, TCFD and others
  • Experience in data analytics and BI tools included but not limited to Tableau, Google Data Studio, R and/or others.
