Sustainability Compliance Project Leader

King of Prussia, PA

Being a Sustainability Compliance project leader, you will secure that sustainability agenda is an integrated part of business and our supplier development.


You will lead and execute the regional sustainability projects in the Americas connected to our roadmap under the priority of A positive impact on people and Society. Projects will be connected to Responsible Sourcing (renewable energy), Responsible Sourcing (raw materials and value chain) and Fair and Equal (social entrepreneurs).


About the assignment

The Sustainability Compliance Project Leader will have responsibilities including but are not limited to:

  • Together with the relevant functions in the business teams, lead execution of assigned Sustainability Projects.
  • Contribute to competence development of our coworkers in the Business Teams and at suppliers, to enable execution of Sustainability strategy
  • Set priorities, create and implement realistic development, and action plans to meet IKEA People, Planet and Society Positive (PPP) goals.
  • Lead specific projects to move sustainability agenda in the Americas.
  • Be an active member of sustainability matrix in the region
  • Facilitate sustainability related coaching and development activities for business teams and suppliers.
  • Contribute to global sustainability initiatives by leading projects locally.


Qualification

About you

You have a passion for sustainability and are comfortable in manufacturing environments. Your passion for people and the planet allows you to make a direct influence at our suppliers and service providers.


We also see that you:

  • Are fluent in Spanish and English (both written and verbal)
  • Have a university degree in sustainability or one of the following engineering fields (environmental, chemical, mechanical, industrial) or 3-4 years relevant work experience.
  • Can coach, inspire, and enable suppliers/service providers to implement sustainable solutions connected to projects and priorities.
  • Can lead on both a strategic and operational level.
  • Are solution oriented and can be creative/innovative in finding new solutions.
  • Have the energy, passion and commitment for sustainability, people and the environment.
  • Can build trust and partnership to reach common goals and have the ability to organize and work independently.
  • Motivate others by sharing experiences, coaching and delivering key messages effectively in different forums.
  • Understand various productions processes and are comfortable in manufacturing environments.
  • Have deep knowledge and understanding of sustainability related global trends and their impacts to the total business.
  • Have a good understanding of industrial setups, market specific conditions, macro-economic conditions, knowledge of different supply chains, and ability to create, lead and execute sustainable business projects.
  • Will be comfortable with traveling up to 40% (air travel, domestically and internationally).
  • Can drive and hold a valid driver’s license.
