Sustainability Advisor

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Sustainability Program Manager to help further our work of nourishing people and the planet. The ideal candidate will be a passionate sustainability professional with a knack for data, a nimble and creative approach to problem solving, and a desire to work as part of a committed and engaged team. The candidate must have demonstrable organizational and time management skills ideally with a track record in environmental and community impact. This Team Member will partner with key internal and external stakeholders and play a critical role in executing sustainability initiatives across Whole Foods. The Sustainability Program Manager’s primary focus will be to support the Whole Foods Market Sustainability Team in achieving impact goals through a data-driven approach. This position will report to the Principal Sustainability Advisor.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with subject matter experts across the Sustainability Team and larger Quality Standards Team on sustainability initiatives.
Support a variety of sustainability projects across waste diversion, packaging, climate, reporting, and social impact.
Track goals, progress and key indicators of success and provide regular updates to the team to keep work on-track and on-target.
Collaborate with Sustainability subject matter experts, the Quality Standard Team, Merchandising Teams, Procurement Teams, Store Development, Operations and external partners to research sustainability issues and drive program objectives.
Support strong, strategic relationships with internal and external business partners, organizations, and NGOs to stay abreast of industry trends and emerging issues related to sustainability.
Provide data analytics and management support to the Sustainability Team.

Qualifications:

A four-year degree in a related discipline or applicable work experience.
Experience working in the sustainability / environmental sector.
Passion for natural foods as well as Whole Foods Market culture, brand, Core Values, Quality Standards.
Proven ability to work as part of a team to achieve positive environmental impact.
Proficient computer skills to implement software tools for data and program management.
Strong interest in sustainability, environmental issues, food systems, and community.
Excellent time-management, organizational skills, attention to detail and sense of urgency.
Ability to juggle multiple projects at once in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Resourceful self-starter, creative thinker with solutions-based approach.
Basic understanding of scientific underpinnings behind climate change and natural resource crisis.
This position is based at the Whole Foods Market Global Headquarters in Austin, TX.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time.
