Studio Manager

St. Thomas, ON

 Motif’s creative team is seeking a bright, energetic candidate for the role of Studio Manager. The right candidate will have a desire to work with an innovative mindset, possess great attention to detail, and have enthusiasm for tackling multiple complex projects within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Studio Manager is responsible for intake, coordination and project management of print and digital creative projects and processes including design, production, proof-reading and development to ensure projects are on-track. This includes process definition and documentation, resource management, schedule development, trafficking, and effective communication across internal and external groups (i.e. marketing, account team, operations, etc.). Motif Labs is a licensed cannabis extraction facility located in SW Ontario. Motif operates as a business-to-business enterprise, offering toll processing and contract manufacturing services to Licensed Producers (LP’s) and 3rd Party Brands. Motif is experiencing significant growth and we are seeking dynamic and professional individuals to join our team. Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage creative operations through input and partnership with Marketing, Account services and Creative leadership
  • Maintain creative workflow of all on going projects, identify and establish new processes for productivity
  • Monitor team effort, bandwidth, and work with Art Directors to load-balance for high-priority projects (resource management)
  • Partner with creative and marketing to define scope, ensure expected timelines and milestones are clearly indicated in digital project plans, lead communication, and escalate issues to stakeholders.
  • Communicate status clearly and frequently to all levels of stakeholders and team members.
  • Manage project documentation, keeping it up-to-date and relevant for team members and stakeholders.
  • Act as an on-site liaison between creative and other departments or stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with marketing on organization for creative needs of tradeshows and photoshoots.
  • Obtain samples of products for photography or creative approval
  • Assist with new innovations and needs
  • Identify and escalate pain points and areas for improvement in a timely and positive manner.
  • Investigate, analyze, and implement new project management tool for increase productivity
  • Act as additional quality control on creative projects with focus on compliance and copy review

 

Qualifications

  • BA or Diploma in Advertising, Communications, or related field
  • 5-7 years of traffic or project management experience with creative department or agency
  • Leadership experience managing growing team of resources
  • Ability to build relationships and extend network across Professional Services teams within a large company
  • Strong understanding of marketing trends, copywriting capabilities a plus 
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and be resourceful in a fast-paced environment
  • Applies innovative ideas and critical thinking to improve current and/or introduce new processes and workflows (internal and external), driving creative and development efficiencies/automation
  • Experience with workflow/project management tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office365, Word, Power Point, Excel; Adobe Creative Cloud a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and positive attitude
  • Ability to see other people’s point of view and receive criticism
  • Proven ability to create clarity in ambiguous circumstances, including in direct client conversations at the onset of a new project, gathering requirements or managing through revisions.
  • Experience in cannabis, beverage, alcohol or relatable industries is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS (HYBRID):

This is a hybrid role where you will need to be on site at our production facility in Aylmer, Ontario (40 min drive from London, ON, 20 min drive from St Thomas, ON) with some flexibility to work remotely. Motif provides all required PPE and has continued all safety protocols: a well-fitted mask must be worn at all times while inside our production areas and staff are to remain 2M+ apart.
