Nike Consumer Direct Marketing is crafted to serve the athlete faster and more personally, at scale, led by digital. This new offense will connect the Nike Brand, product and experiences with consumers in new and more powerful ways. A key part of the Consumer Direct Offense is content that is optimized for consumer needs based on analytics.


WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Staff Editor, Activity Growth Content to inspire and lead our activity-related growth content team! Demonstrating strong leadership and influence with the ability to communicate a clear content vision to business, marketing, and technical partners. Above all else, this person leads by example with a relentless focus and passion for creating content experiences that help people live longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.


WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As the Staff Editor covering Activity (training, running, fitness, nutrition, wellness) on the Organic Growth Content team at Nike, you will manage the daily execution of world-class digital content experiences centered on driving business and audience growth through activity-related content! Responsible for pitching, writing, revising, and publishing stories on various running, training fitness, nutrition, health, and wellness topics. Information gathering and prioritization are crucial to your success. Knowing how to dig into internal and external keyword and topic data to understand consumer needs and pain points, prioritize how to address those needs, and create outstanding content experiences to serve consumers.


Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of activity-related growth content
  • Write and/or edit up to 3-5 articles daily in accordance with activity-focused editorial content calendar, ensuring content faithfully addresses the relevant topic and satisfies audience intent
  • Brainstorm, prioritize and pitch story topics within a defined keyword universe centered around running, training, fitness and nutrition
  • Identify internal and external specialists and build relationships for interviewing and contributing authoritative material to our activity content efforts
  • Build and advise a large team of reputable and trustworthy activity with content creators and subject matter expertise
  • Update, improve, and optimize content library on an ongoing basis to ensure all content meets high quality standards and adheres to brand guidelines
  • Stay up-to-date on trends and topics in the health and wellness space


WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will report to the Managing Editor - and will work closely with the Director of Organic Growth Content and the Sr. Director Global, Nike.com & Nike App Marketing, to build an activity-focused growth content editorial calendar. While your primary focus will be organic growth strategies using activity content, working with internal and external promotional partners to drive organic link building, email & social traffic and partner site integration points. Working with leaders across Digital Commerce, Marketing, Digital Product and our Geography partners to understand their needs and how growth-focused activity content can help realize them.


WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Journalism or a related field
  • 2 years of additional experience in lieu of a degree
  • 4-6 years of relevant content/editorial experience in the health and wellness space with a consistent track record of delivering successful digital content experiences at scale to drive business and audience growth
  • Experience building and leading a team of writers
  • Exceptional editing and writing skills and adept at creating content that’s authentic, data-driven, and brand-aligned
  • Outstanding written/oral, organizational, analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Foundational understanding of SEO best-practices as it relates to content creation and optimization
  • Some technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in CMS and content creation technologies for both web and app-based experiences
  • Solid analytical skills with an understanding of critical metrics and the ability to pivot or double-down as needed based on content performance
  • Superior relationship-building with cross-functional teams to deliver results through excellent partnership, communication and negotiating skills
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, adjust priorities, and work in a continuously changing environment to meet critical deadlines and demanding business objectives
  • Ability to provide clear direction, set measurable goals and give insight on industry trends
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats and be scrappy
  • Passion for sport, innovation, and the brand
