Sr. Specialist, Internal Communications

Job Summary:

The Internal Communications, Sr. Specialist is an internal champion of the Spirit brand. This position is responsible for the planning and executing various communication strategies to inform and engage Spirit Family Members across all functions and throughout the network. Channel management includes email, video, meetings/events, Spirit Link intranet, digital signage, and virtual town halls. Additionally, the Sr. Specialist is responsible for measuring and optimizing our communications to our Spirit Family Members. Strong writing and project management skills are required as well as PowerPoint, SharePoint, and strong relationship-building skills. Videography and photography skills preferred.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute high-quality and high-impact, multi-stage communications strategies to inform and engage the Spirit Family.
  • Craft goal-alignment stories with integrated messages to increase Team Members' line of sight to our mission and values.
  • Optimize our current communications channel content and distribution to appropriate audiences.
  • Report on current communication channel platforms and assist in the rollout and execution of new ones.
  • Work with internal resources and outside vendors to develop a regular cadence of engaging and informative videos.
  • Consult internal stakeholders on creating PowerPoint decks to ensure flow and consistency in brand tone and messaging for internal meetings and events.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams to support critical communications efforts.
  • Write for all audiences throughout the organization, including executive messaging.
  • Report on the effectiveness of written and video communications and recommend changes or adjustments as needed.
  • Consistently ideate and recommend new strategies to inform and engage the Spirit Family.
  • Support the Internal Communications Manager to ensure internal stakeholder requests are fulfilled effectively and efficiently while meeting the Brand Guidelines.
  • Support company and brand initiatives (inaugural events, anniversaries, new station announcements, etc.).
  • Integrate with external communications partners to ensure content is shared on as many channels as possible.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs, or technical developments).


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, and/or related field.
  • 5-7 years experience in Communications, Public Relations, and/or related field.
  • Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and writing skills with the ability to adapt writing styles for various channels and audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and departments.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to adapt quickly and manage several projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Video editing and production experience are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Previous experience in managing an intranet site (i.e., SharePoint or WordPress) preferred.  
  • Listens to understand and actively reaches out to all relevant Team Members to create two-way understanding and transparency; Has a strong service mindset and skills. 
  • Builds and executes effective standard processes and metrics to track both process and results. 
  • Strong attention to detail, time & project management, and organization skills. 
  • Seeks to deeply understand business needs (not just wants) throughout the operation and partners effectively with all levels of Spirit team members. Listens, communicates, and influences effectively to create seamless collaboration. 
  • Flexible; Able to transition fluidly from one project to another and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with event planning, coordination, and organization. 
  • Domestic & International travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • Must be present at the worksite 100% of the time.
