Job Description

The coolest jobs on this planet… or any other… are with Lockheed Martin Space

At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer, partner, innovator and builder. Our amazing people are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every day we use our unique skills and experiences to create, design and build solutions to some of the worlds’ hardest engineering problems. Our culture encourages employees to dream big, perform with excellence and create incredible products. We provide the resources, inspiration and focus and if you have the passion and courage to dream big, we want to build a better tomorrow with you.

Going to space is just the beginning. It’s what you do when you get there that matters. Lockheed Martin builds the satellites and spacecraft that do amazing things in space for government and commercial customers. Connecting people. Advancing discovery. And protecting what matters most. Lockheed Martin-built satellites give earlier warning of severe weather, connect troops on the battlefield, and deliver GPS directions to a billion people worldwide.

What does this role look like?

We Do Space at Lockheed Martin. Eleven Mars-bound orbiters and landers. The next human-rated spacecraft destined for the Moon and beyond. The first-ever comet sample return. The first 3D-printed parts in deep space. More interplanetary spacecraft than any other U.S. company. And we’re just getting started. Now we need your help in telling our story to the world.

The Lockheed Martin Space Communications team is seeking an energetic, creative and project-oriented marketing practitioner to join our Business & Brand Communications team. This role will manage marketing and content development for components of our brand refresh, podcast and oversee sponsorships in partnership with Strategy & Business Development.

  • Oversee marketing for the external-facing Space Makers podcast (currently available on all major podcast platforms), which explores some of the most challenging and innovative missions Lockheed Martin is working on for our customers – both past and present – and how they are shaping the future of space.
  • Manage sponsorship requests, cadence and opportunities in partnership with Strategy & Business Development; candidate will ensure we are maximizing these investments in collaboration with the broader organization/team.
  • Report on and use metrics, data and feedback to continuously improve strategic marketing efforts and ensure content is effectively reaching target audiences.
  • Partner with our social media and brand refresh leads to track and optimize Web content, effectively balancing business strategy, user experience and SEO needs and best practices.
  • Partner with other functions within Space Communications to drive enterprise-wide stories to be leveraged across multiple channels and platforms.

  • Candidate should possess attention to detail, ability to multi-task and project manage, as well as a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Strong writing skills are a must and samples will be requested.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect multiple activities into a single narrative.
  • Comfortable interfacing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
