Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting a Senior Marketing Manager, OTTAVA Advanced Visualization, within our MedTech Surgery organization. The location for this position is Santa Clara, CA. or Cincinnati, OH.

The MedTech Surgery organization was recently established to combine Ethicon’s market-leading surgical portfolio with the Robotics & Digital Solutions portfolio. The MedTech Surgical organization is comprised of: Wound Closure & Healing and Biosurgery, Endo Mechanical and Energy, OTTAVA (Surgical Robotics), MONARCH (Flexible Robotics), and MedTech Digital.
The Senior Marketing Manager will report to the OTTAVA Marketing Director, Strategy & Innovation – Advanced Visualization. The person in this role will execute and accelerate MedTech Surgery business strategy partnering with cross-functional partners to solve the top unmet needs in surgery through internal and external innovation in the surgical visualization space.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop business and customer-level requirements, as well as go-to-market and implementation strategies for multiple new features and products within the portfolio.
- Partner with Global Strategic Insights group for competitive insight generation and conduct associated market research & labs in support of driving surgical visualization innovation.
- Partner across OTTAVA and J&J MedTech global strategic marketing (GSM) teams on projects with connections across subsystems and product portfolios.
- Ensure thorough understanding of the surgical visualization market, both robotics and lap, including competitive portfolio offerings, innovation landscape, and features/capabilities needed to succeed in our target market and procedures, working closely with the global strategic insights team.
- Drive strong collaboration with cross functional partners (including R&D, Pre-clinical, Clinical, and Medical (PCM), Regulatory, Human Factors, Business Development, Supply Chain, and Regional Marketing Leads) to support innovation cadence.
- Partner with Business Development to inform license, merger & acquisition activity in support of our innovation cadence and technology roadmap including contributing to business case definition.
- Serve as marketing lead for multiple OTTAVA pre-charter project development teams to progress through the pipeline.
- Execute and / or support execution of strategic research and VoC in support of product portfolio strategy
- Partner with New Product Development marketing team to support product portfolio marketing strategy, specialty strategy, evidence generation strategy, and product roadmap generation.
Qualifications
Education:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of Marketing and / or sales experience in medical device, medtech or health tech is required
- Demonstrated marketing and/or sales experience in laparoscopic or rigid scope visualization systems is required. Will also consider applicants with arthroscopy or ENT scope market experience
- Prior NPD or Front end GSM experience
- Outstanding analytical skills and ability to understand technically complex concepts.
- Ability to develop, manage and nurture customer relationships.
- Proven ability to effectively navigate ambiguous and open-ended problems.
- Strong ability to collaborate and work across organizational boundaries (e.g., across functions, with other business units).
- Experience working in a product development environment defining aspects of a market, product solution and/or target user including the ability to understand and define customer needs, feedback, and articulate to other stakeholders, including the engineering and marketing organizations.
- Strong organizational abilities. Capable of consuming large amounts of information and summarizing in a clear and cohesive manner.
- Critical thinking with ability to drive business results and influence without direct authority.
- Strong communications skills, verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to own and drive consistent strategic messaging to a broad organization and multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of general, bariatric, thoracic and colorectal surgery.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Engineering or technical degree a plus
- Experience working on internal and/or external innovations teams as a key contributor.
- Experience with landscape assessment including collaborating with business development on external collaborations.
- Experience with needs based assessment development for portfolio planning.
- Experience with license, merger and acquisition due diligence activities.
- Demonstrated ability to learn sophisticated technology, especially in clinical applications.
Other:
- This position will be based out of Santa Clara, CA or Cincinnati, OH and may require up to 30% travel (international and domestic)
- The anticipated base salary for this role is $118,000 to $203,550
For candidates based out of the Bay Area, CA., the anticipated base salary is $136,000 to $234,140
