Sr. Manager Sustainability Governance & Risk

Minneapolis, MN

The Sr Manager Sustainability Governance & Risk supports the development of a proactive strategy(ies) to mitigate sustainability risk driven by new (regulatory) requirements, stakeholders’ expectations, activism, and other sustainability macro trends that could create vulnerabilities to our business. This role is responsible for executing the analysis and reporting necessary to assure compliance with Target’s environmental and social policies enterprise-wide in support of Target Forward strategy, and overall risk mitigation efforts. This role will drive the due diligence for sustainability compliance requirements, monitor emerging regulations and new standards, develops compliance specifications and policies, builds compliance programs to support business initiatives, and troubleshoot and resolves compliance issues that arise during business operations.

About you:

  • Law, sustainability, business, environmental science, or other relevant degree preferred
  • 5+ years of Sustainability Management consulting and/or industry experience in environmental sustainability, human rights, health and safety or similar field
  • Knowledge of environmental and social / human rights topics as they may impact the retail industry
  • Familiarity with the ESG macro-trends and regulatory and policy environment
  • Excellent communication skills; able to explain complex industry concepts in non-technical terms


This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the team memberscore role will be a blend of virtual andonsite at a Target location.A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s notaTarget location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times ayear.
