Sr. Manager, Regional Communications

Shelton, CT

The Senior Manager of Regional Communications, North America will be responsible for communications plans and activities that engage key audiences both internally and externally with the goal of advancing BIC’s reputation in the region. Reporting to the Vice President, Group Communications and partnering with the global communications team, the Senior Manager will support and drive the effectiveness of company-wide communications strategies through regional activations, channels, content and events. The Senior Manager will work in partnership with internal and agency teams in implementing programs and developing content, including speeches, announcements, events and videos.


Specific responsibilities include:

Internal Communications:

  • Responsible for the strategic planning and execution of internal communications programs to inform and engage BIC North American employees in a timely manner.
  • Serves as main communication partner to the General Manager, North America, assisting with all of communication needs, including announcements, town halls, media interview prep and scripts.
  • Reviews, edits and approves employee announcements, manager talking points, and communications toolkits.
  • Maintains regional content for the company intranet.
  • Advises regional business leaders on communications strategies and approaches.
  • Supplies content for global social media channels.
  • Works in partnership with Manager, Supply Chain Communications to establish and execute strategies to communicate to manufacturing employees.
  • Manages communications related to larger employee events and celebrations.
  • Coordinates and executes North America’s participation in Global Education Week.
  • Partners closely with the global communications team and other internal partners on crisis communications as needed.


External Communications:

  • Partners with Director of External comms, and in alignment with regional strategies, plans and executes public relations programs to promote BIC, its products and its people, through national, trade and local media and social media.
  • Collaborates with centralized communications team, regional marketing team, and agency partner to identify opportunities for media outreach, social media content and media response.
  • Creates content for corporate digital and social media channels to promote regional stories.
  • Collaborates closely with regional marketing team to meet key business objectives.
  • Responds to media inquiries. Prepares spokespeople for interviews, drafting
  • messages and Q&A.
  • Partners with Producer, Video Content to create customer-facing videos.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks to BIC’s reputation in the region and helps to develop elective issues management and crisis communications plans as needed.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related 􀃕eld required
  • 10+ years of experience within public relations, employee communications or corporate communications experience in-house or at agency (both is preferred)
  • Experience in fast-moving industry within a heavily matrixed organization
  • Extensive experience advising executives in communications and reputation management
  • Strong management and strategic planning and goal setting
  • Excellent visual, oral and written communication skills required
