  • This position is a key leadership position within the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, responsible for managing the team that designs, builds, and maintains the telemetry platform. This role will lead the execution and evolution of the observability capabilities supporting teams across the company and ensuring seamless integration with other technical platforms. 
  • The role is a part of the architecture leadership team within our Technology group.

  • Lead and manage a team of telemetry and observability engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the telemetry and observability platform. 
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the telemetry and observability platform, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the telemetry platform, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and architecture, to understand integration requirements and implement effective solutions.
  • Work closely with the engineering community and technologists throughout the enterprise to define and drive the technology strategy for the domain platform.
  • Mentor and upskill team members, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and advance their careers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging telemetry and observability technologies and industry best practices and assess their relevance to the organization's monitoring and data analysis objectives.
  • Work closely with the architecture leadership team to align the telemetry and observability platform with the organization's overall technology strategy.
  • Communicate and promote the technical vision for the domain platform to stakeholders and senior leadership, advocating for its importance in supporting the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Manages production issues and off-hours support, communication, and coordination, as needed.


All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Technology, Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training 
  • 6 years of experience leading engineering teams in the delivery of mission critical systems 


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master’s Degree in related field 
  • 6+ years of experience leading engineering teams in the delivery of mission critical systems
  • 5+ years of experience leading other technical leaders


Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, including infrastructure as code, microservices architecture, and containerization
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with telemetry tools, including solution design for SSO, IAM, and APIs
  • Strong understanding in cloud concepts, including native telemetry offerings and integrating with cloud PaaS/IaaS services.
  • Proficiency in Agile and Product-driven delivery 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate with senior business and IT stakeholders effectively and clearly and to sell a technical strategy and vision
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with, and consensus amongst, multiple stakeholders with varying points of view
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected events, new facts, and rapidly changing circumstances
  • Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practices
