Sr. Manager, Environmental & Sustainability

What You Will Do:

As the Sr Manager Environmental & Sustainability, you will be supporting the plant in planning, coordinating, and implementing a range of environmental compliance and sustainability topics. You will be responsible for the site’s progress towards, and achievement of L’Oreal For The Future 2030 goals including 100% material recovery (recycle or reuse of all waste), waste reduction, energy consumption reduction, Water Loop, wastewater COD reduction, and implementing a biodiversity plan for the site. You will also be responsible for managing programs wholly or in part, potentially including prevention of water, soil, and air pollution, hazardous waste management, and/or solid waste management with associated reporting and recordkeeping. 


You will actively participate in identifying new and improved processes that will result in time or waste savings. 

  • Own environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, air, stormwater, wastewater, and/or chemical storage and management through the following:
  • Inspections such as stormwater, spill prevention, and hazardous waste storage areas
  • Recordkeeping such as sample and inspection data
  • Permitting requirements such as air permit information and wastewater permit data
  • Hazardous waste compliance program assistance including shipments
  • Tier II environmental chemical storage reporting
  • Department of Homeland Security chemical requirements
  • Safety Data Sheet management for on-site chemicals
  • DOT Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods training and program management
  • Refrigerant-containing equipment management and leak tracking
  • Spill Team training and program management
  • Follow-up on LEAP incidents involving hazardous waste, spills, etc.
  • Conducts investigations, institutes audits, and prepares and/or reviews reports and relation information to evaluate existing organizations, policies, procedures, and practices as related to the environmental program
  • Coordination of ISO 14001 & 50001 Environmental and Energy Management systems including the following:
  • Documentation of environmental procedures and processes such as waste management
  • Documentation and training on significant environmental aspects
  • Assist with environmental sustainability efforts for L’Oreal for the Future as needed, including the following:
  • Influence and animate water, waste, and energy consumption reduction projects at Franklin to achieve zone level targeted levels
  • Lead production departments workshops to develop and assist L4TF specific goals
  • Conduct new research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement across the plant for sustainability performance
  • Facilitate and execute appropriate action plans across site department to optimize the Franklin return on environmental sustainability investment
  • Partner with the Engineering team members to achieve L4TF milestones and goals
  • Strategic 3-year Capex planning for L4TF projects and planning to achieve 2030 L4TF goals
  • Project management for waste reduction, waste recovery
  • Education and awareness campaign, visuals, etc.
  • Data collection, reporting and analysis including environmental waste, water, energy, and biodiversity data (e.g., monthly GRAAL, Master Plan, project management)
  • Data and project presentation for Plant Status and DGO ScanTools
  • Manage and provide EHS training as needed
  • Performs other related work as assigned

 

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science (Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, etc.) or engineering (e.g. Environmental Engineering)
  • Experience in environmental compliance/EPA regulations including RCRA, EPCRA, Air Permitting, SPCC, SWPP, and/or wastewater permitting
  • Experience in DOT Hazardous Materials, OSHA HazCom, Hazwoper, or certificates/training in other chemical-related regulations
  • Must have various DOT/EPA/RCRA/HAZWOPER certifications
  • CHMM or other industry recognized environmental certification is desired
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in environmental management and sustainability 
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with environmental sustainability topics such as waste, water, carbon emissions, circular economy, and/or biodiversity
  • Drive operational improvements through the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve energy and sustainability performance across extensive real estate portfolios
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to explain complex data and content in a clear and impactful way with target audiences in mind
  • Knowledge of budgeting & fiscal management
  • Strong PC Skills utilizing Excel, Power BI, Forms, PowerPoint, and related MS Office Software 
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills
