Sr Manager, Communications

SoundCloud is seeking an experienced, dynamic leader to join our global team as Sr Manager, Communications (Product Features). Sr Manager will play a critical and highly visible role, spearheading product and corporate communications efforts.

This is a full-time, NY or LA-based position reporting directly to the Vice President, Communications. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive press strategies that deliver SoundCloud’s mission, via compelling storytelling, targeted speaking opportunities and executive profiles
  • Act as a trusted partner to the product, engineering, business development and partnerships teams to drive and elevate SoundCloud’s brand and products in the media
  • Ability to translate key data and implement communication strategies into digestible content for the B2B audience
  • Co-lead corporate communications initiatives that include creating and executing B2B strategies, proactively telling brand and business stories, spearheading company awards submissions and more
  • Source and secure top-tier speaking engagements, profiles and op-eds that expertly amplify SoundCloud’s position as thought leaders leading whats what’s next in music
  • Craft and edit press materials including press strategies and releases, pitches, briefing documents, company messaging, statements and other collateral
  • Demonstrate ability to partner cross-functionally and work effectively and confidently with senior leaders
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the SoundCloud brand, including strategy, objectives, competitor landscape and apply this knowledge to strategic communications approach


Experience and Background

  • 4-8 years experience in a product or corporate communications role within a tech, music or entertainment company 
  • Demonstrated success executing against communications strategies and goals and securing diverse media coverage across various platforms
  • Understanding of the SoundCloud platform and mission and shared commitment to leading what’s next in music
  • Can skillfully determine the most pertinent information and communicate it - both verbally and written - in a strong, clear and concise manner
  • Previous experience taking full ownership of projects, from soup to nuts while exemplifying leadership skills
  • Take a solution-oriented approach to challenges, are resourceful and able to work independently, but also a strong collaborator and team player
  • Strong organizational skills and have the ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed 
  • Love to pitch and have strong media contacts and are on a first-name basis with top trade and tech-focused writers who cover music, product and entertainment
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the music tech landscape, from new products to industry trends - you live and breathe tech, music and culture
  • Flexible, adaptable and don’t mind moving quickly to keep up with the demands of busy, yet exciting work environment
  • Experience in a global or international role a plus

The salary range for this role is $100,000-$140,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location. We also offer a generous total rewards program - read more about additional benefits and perks below!
