The Senior Director of Global Talent will lead Tapestry’s efforts to modernize and evolve our approach to talent assessment, talent management, development planning and succession planning with more rigor, objectivity, data-centricity and nuance.


This role reports to the VP, Global Talent and Development and be a key member of the Talent and Development leadership team. This role will work out of Tapestry’s NYC Hudson Yards office 3x a week (Tuesday-Thursday).

 

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Human Resources to…

  • Lead efforts to develop assessment profiles and refreshed expectations/competencies for VP+ roles in alignment with Tapestry’s business strategy, growth objectives and desired culture
  • Evolve and modernize a scalable and ongoing Leadership Talent Review (LTR)/succession planning approach that drives an objective assessment of talent potential, builds succession plans and enables the acceleration of development for leaders slated for expanded or higher level roles; integrate into regular business processes
  • Lead Tapestry’s annual LTR process including providing roadmap, guidance, tools and resources for HR Business Partners, project managing the global process, managing data analysis/reporting and preparing briefing materials for Tapestry’s Executive Committee, CEO and Board of Directors; serve as an advisor to HR Business Partners throughout the process
  • Own 1-2 “Talent Communities” (along with a sponsor from the HR Senior Leadership Team) for critical talent segments across Brands; specifically, understand critical needs for these talent segments and work with Business Leaders and Cross-Functional HR partners to tailor approaches that will more effectively attract, develop, assess, engage, motivate and drive mobility based on nuances needed for these populations; understand deeply the differentiated needs and the talent within these communities 
  • Own the competency model and related tools, improving the organization’s ability to leverage and apply competencies in their ongoing performance, development and career discussions
  • Provide central support and guidance on organization design to ensure a consistent and rigorous approach is leveraged across Brands and Functions globally
  • Partner with the Global People & Organizational Development team to:
  • Create development strategies to advance VP+ capabilities in alignment with the assessment profiles
  • Improve the quality of development planning throughout the organization, with a specific focus on leaders, their successors and high potential talent
  • Oversee reporting and dashboards related to Talent, analyze data and synthesize themes and takeaways for key milestones, including quarterly Board updates
  • Provide thought leadership and advisory on talent and development projects 
  • Develop strong relationships and partner with Total Rewards, HR Technology, HR Business Partners, Equity Inclusion & Diversity (EI&D) and Communications teams to drive work and initiatives in an efficient, collaborative way; conduct information sessions with key partners to support Talent process execution  
  • Create alignment and connectivity across key initiatives and projects with global and cross-functional partners and stakeholders 


The accomplished individual will possess…

  • 10+ years of experience in HR positions of increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated success developing plans to address key business issues and utilizing those plans to achieve desired results. Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to connect business and people strategies required.
  • 5+ years operating in a global and highly complex, customer-centric business


Tapestry is a highly-distributed, multi-brand business with global operations. Experience in a highly-regarded, preferably international organization, with multiple operations is ideal. 


Leadership role during a time of change (growth, restructure, M&A etc.)


Demonstrated success in leading a team and senior stakeholders to guide strategic change in an organization. This includes prior experience implementing organizational design and change management initiatives in a business, function or organization. Possess a continuous improvement mindset and ability to connect the dots across seemingly disparate topics to identify trends and key take-aways that will drive action.


Relationship building and influencing

  • High degree of emotional intelligence and resilience, paired with exceptional listening skills and strong intellectual curiosity. Track record of successfully navigating complex, matrixed organizations with the ability to develop a wide network of strong relationships up, down and across the business to influence outcomes and drive results. Experience partnering with and coaching C-level executives preferred. Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Project management, problem solving and resourcefulness 
  • Strong organization and project management skills, including attention to detail as well as the ability to manage complex projects and navigate matrixed organization structures; resourceful, with strong problem-solving ability and learning agility; able to take an issue in the business and create plan to address through people
  • Education College degree or equivalent working experience preferred.

Work Setup Hybrid

BASE PAY RANGE $185,000.00 TO $200,000.00 Annually
