Sr. Director, Global Compensation

Baltimore, MD

As a valued leader within the Total Rewards Team, the Sr. Director, Global Compensation & Mobility at Under Armour is primarily responsible for design, management, and execution of the Company’s global compensation and mobility programs, policies, and processes that span across all divisions, functions, and regions. The ideal candidate will ensure the success of Under Armour’s global compensation and mobility programs while enhancing our ability to attract, motivate, and retain top talent needed to support the growth and strategy for Under Armour globally. This leader will have the unique opportunity to lead and adapt our global compensation and mobility strategies at UA, while building and developing a strong team within the function.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains strategic focus on building strong relationships with key customers, understanding the business, and delivering quality services and products that continue to evolve and support key business needs
  • Frequently interacts and regularly presents to members of the Executive Leadership Team on Human Capital topics; can advocate as a subject matter expert within compensation and has a deep technical understanding of executive compensation specifically
  • Consults with HR Leadership, HR Business Partners, and business leaders on the alignment of reward and mobility programs with business strategies and issues of pay
  • Leads compensation and mobility teams, ensuring the team provides value-added consultative services to business and HR leaders; manages the International Reward community for development and sharing opportunities
  • Manages global salary survey selection and appropriate use of market data; drives well-managed local benchmarking efforts, including (but not limited to): strategy and methodology, survey selection, special studies, market intelligence, etc. 
  • Keeps abreast of global market trends within Total Rewards and Mobility
  • Manages global annual rewards cycles including merit, bonus and Long Term Incentives; conducts annual benchmarking on global merit budgets and economic analysis to determine final merit and COLA budgets; partners with FP&A to conduct appropriate modeling including the creation of merit matrices; provides global tools and manage global reporting
  • Manages deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing reward programs and models the potential financial impact of alternatives
  • Ensures all compensation practices are delivered in a transparent and equitable manner
  • Coordinate preparation of executive compensation disclosure information required in the annual proxy statement
  • Assist in preparation of executive compensation-related materials for Compensation Committee and Board of Directors meetings; attends these meetings as a subject matter expert
  • In partnership with HR and Finance, establish compensation and mobility budgets and guidelines for global locations
  • Understand the complexity of business on a global scale; embrace cultural and individual differences; and work with the nuances of specific local cultures to make informed, impactful compensation design decisions
  • Take lead on compiling responses to external surveys, such as “Best Places to Work” and assist with communication planning for internal company surveys
  • Manage a team of compensation, mobility, and equity professionals


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Experience in design and implementation of compensation structures across multiple geographies
  • Ability to move seamlessly between strategic and executional work
  • Deep technical knowledge of executive compensation
  • Understand general global mobility practices and programs
  • Proven, influential leadership skills
  • Smart, creative, compelling, driven; not afraid to lead others past their comfort zone(s); creates a sense of urgency and is energized by speed
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders; consultative and collaborative style that allows for influence without authority
  • Ability to operate in a face-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Flexible and comfortable to roll up your sleeves, used to being hands-on 
  • Extraordinary communication skills – both oral and written
  • Serve in a business and though partner to various levels of the organization


Education And / Or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, human resources, or related field preferred; MBA a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in compensation with a focus on innovative, fast-growing workforce; preferably gained while working for a global publicly traded organization
  • Strong understanding of interdependencies in program and systems design, legal and tax and financial implications of all compensation elements (i.e., base salary, bonus, equity), globally
  • Executive compensation leadership experience in a large, global publicly traded company
  • Experience in leading large-scale projects with heavy change management requirements
  • Strong leadership and staff development skills


Other Requirements

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our or global headquarters in Baltimore, MD
  • Return To Work Designation: At least one (1) day per week in-office, the remainder of work week remote
  • Travel: Limited, less than 5%


Salary & Relocation

  • Relocation may be provided
  • Base salary range: $194,022.00 – $266,779.70

 

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual’s relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
