Sr. Director, ESG & Sustainability

Boca Raton, FL

The Senior Director of ESG/Sustainability will develop and direct ADT’s integrated ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)/corporate sustainability strategy. Drives and monitors progress on defined ESG/sustainability objectives; communicates ADT’s accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders; and builds an awareness and culture of sustainability within the company. Collaborates across multiple functions to develop a coordinated ESG/sustainability strategy, with objectives designed to drive business results, reduce risk and enhance ADT’s reputation. Produces regular reporting and assessments of our ESG performance relative to our own goals and to the performance of our peers, ensures compliance with the relevant regulatory and shareholder-driven standards, and makes recommendations on future initiatives. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and leads a multi-pronged ESG strategy. Prioritizes the issues that are most important to ADT stakeholders while considering opportunities for business growth and risk mitigation. 
  • Acts as a thought leader in ESG. Understanding current and future challenges within the industry and educating and prioritizing these issues with internal teams and external stakeholders. Remains up to date on ESG trends and developments and translates them into actionable improvements.
  • Develops a compelling narrative of our ESG Strategy, goals, targets and objectives.
  • Establishes objectives and milestones to achieve short and long-term goals, embedding our strategy within the functional areas as an integrated part of how we work.
  • Develops external ESG reporting and works collaboratively across multiple functional areas to drive program awareness and communicates program results. 
  • Selects, implements and maintains a technology solution to capture ESG disclosures from source systems across the company 
  • Chairs and organizes the agenda for quarterly ESG Steering Committee meetings (monthly or quarterly as needed).


Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • The ability to influence and catalyze change to improve sustainability/ESG performance of companies through the application of exceptional interpersonal, relationship building and collaboration skills.
  • The ability to work autonomously with a hands-on approach.
  • Practical and innovative leader with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results. Ability to balance idealism with pragmatism.
  • Proactive, highly motivated self-starter with a high level of intellectual, professional and interpersonal agility, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation skills with experience working at both executive and board levels.
  • Executive presence and interpersonal skills that enable you to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Possess an established network of ESG/CSR colleagues from whom you can seek advice.
  • Familiarity with ESG/sustainability frameworks, reporting standards, and ratings agencies
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and ability to address conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive and effective manner


Education & certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA/JD a plus
