Sr. Content Strategy Manager

This role can be based out of our Chicago, IL or Grand Rapids, MI office. 


As BISSELL’s Content Strategy Manager, you play a key role in establishing BISSELL as the world’s most loved pet-inspired homecare brand. You see yourself first as a storyteller and second as a digital content expert.

This role requires a balance of marketing communications, performance, and publishing mindsets and an innate ability to create compelling digital brand and product content that is relevant to BISSELL’s consumers across multiple buying/ownership journey touchpoints, and channels. You have a curiosity for the intersection of Brand and consumer interests; and, a passion for extracting information from different sources to create compelling content features that will tell brand and product stories.


  • Lead the development and delivery of a digital editorial strategy that brings to life the BISSELL brand and product value propositions across all touchpoints on the digital buyer journey
  • Evangelize content throughout the organization and lead the company towards global strategy.
  • Build significance of content in consumer conversion paths, justifying economic value and the business case for growing the team.
  • Manage and coach the team on content strategy, execution and management. 
  • Owns and manages enterprise and campaign-specific content calendars to support and enhance the organization’s brand, products and services, while ensuring alignment with key internal stakeholders
  • Create, manage, and execute the content strategy for The Clean List – including planning, writing, editing, optimizing, and measuring content on a regular and ongoing basis
  • Amplify BISSELL’s pet purpose by linking the BISSELL Pet Foundation with our commercial objectives via compelling and differentiated stories on
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify, develop, and deliver compelling brand, product, and lifestyle stories that further differentiate BISSELL, and achieve product and channel growth objectives
  • Ensure content is SEO friendly, and appropriately linked to key moments through the buyer journey on and across our partner eTail landscape
  • Seek out opportunities to create and contribute work on third party sites and media outlets
  • Be a student of culture; constantly auditing and keeping up with content, social media, and experience design trends and disruptors
  • Partner with SME’s across the organization to amplify content via media, partners, influencers, events, social media, etc.
  • Partner with the analytics and data teams to gather and measure visitor insights and capture evolving customer needs and market learnings, then translate those into compelling content strategy
  • Develop content-specific KPIs in order to track the impact of BISSELL’s content strategy.

Required Experience / Education:

  • Degree minimum: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Specific concentration: Communications, Journalism, Creative Writing, Marketing, English
  • Experience level: Minimum 6 years of experience in journalism, marketing, copy-writing, strategy
