Sr. Accounts Payable Specialist

Aliso Viejo, CA

Compensation: $26- $31.25 per hour. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive the target at 3 % of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply. 

Senior Accounts Payable Specialist – Hybrid – Aliso Viejo, CA (Minimum 3 days a week)

 The Sr. Accounts Payable Specialist position is a senior individual-contributor role on the accounting team and reports directly to the Accounts Payable Manager.

This position performs various tasks supporting and assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes. Primary responsibilities include preparing and paying standard invoices, preparing new vendors, and normal account reconciliations.

This role will require strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional communication and organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as cross-functionally.

The individual will be part of the Accounts Payable function and build its infrastructure; this includes the design and implementation of best practices. In addition, this person will understand the needs of each department and formulate process improvements that enhance the overall workflow of each team.


Essential Functions:

  • Handle accounts payable for separate entities, vendors and classify invoices to proper accounts and cost centers.
  • Analyze workflow processes and oversee expense reimbursement process.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing vendors.
  • Ensure bills are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
  • Review invoices and ensure to process timely payments.
  • Compare purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges.
  • Process transactions and perform accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts.
  • Aid accounts payable using accounting software and other programs.
  • Provide assistance to both internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare and file 1099s.
  • And other duties as required.



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive Accounts Payable experience
  • Standard proficiency in Windows, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience or familiarity with ERP systems
  • Aptitude to understand the organization’s purpose, business and industry, including related landscapes (financial, regulatory, legal, etc.)
  • Strong competency in problem solving & analysis.



  • SAP and Concur experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
