Specialist Creative Design

This role is responsible for the creative design solutions for SpartanNash Marketing, primarily supporting retail marketing business teams. Design solutions include, print POS, brochures, newsletters, magazine ads, consumer mailers and email newsletters. This role involves highly cross-functional team collaboration among Creative Services team members. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy are important for this role.

Here’s what you’ll do: 

  • Create, develop and execute compelling design solutions for SpartanNash Retail Marketing team.   
  • Work cross-functionally, collaborating and communicating with Marketing teams to identify and understand target audience and project scope, delivering solutions on time, on brand and within budget.  
  • Develop creative design solutions for various marketing channels, including:
  • * Forms of advertising in the digital space such as: email, social media, outdoor advertising
  • * Print advertising such as: retail banner signage (POS), flyers, newsletters, brochures
  • Coordinate and organize creative reviews.
  • File preparation for print to meet deadlines and trouble-shoot as needed on issues that arise.  
  • Maintain Data Asset Management (DAM) system with content on behalf of the Retail Marketing team.
  • Ensure consistency of marketing messages for corporate retail banners compliant to brand guidelines.
  • Optimize organization of design files, image protocols, archiving and quality control standards.  
  • Recommend and assist in developing processes and standards and work within established protocols.  
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best Marketing/Design and Digital Media practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes.  
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. 

Here’s what you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required) in Graphic Design or Fine Arts, Photography, Marketing, Advertising, or Communications. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.  
  • Five years' experience with Design, Advertising, Publishing, Journalism, or Photography.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, prioritization, and customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Sound creative judgement and problem-solving skills. 
  • Working understanding of branding and advertising campaigns.  
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external resources to develop graphic design solutions that meet customers goals within budget and established timelines. 
  • Experience with Creative Cloud applications, specifically: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop.
  • Motion graphic development (i.e. GIF) a plus
