Software Engineer

This position is for a software engineer to support the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) program in VF, PA. The candidate will work in an agile scrum development environment to design, develop and maintain technically complex software systems. Tasks can include defining sub-system architecture, performing detailed software design, generating design documentation, and software implementation and testing (to include developing unit tests). As a DevSecOps organization, the candidate may also perform in a system engineering minor role working on model based engineering (MBE) models and comparing with tactical software equivalents for accuracy or providing overall system testing. The candidate also works under general direction from senior team members to ensure product development is aligning with higher level program goals.


Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related engineering discipline with software skills from an accredited University.


Desired Skills:

  • Linux operating system experience
  • C++ experience primarily
  • Java experience secondary
  • Source Code Management (SCM) systems such as: GIT, ClearCase
  • Bug tracking tools such as: JIRA, ClearQuest
  • Experience/knowledge of software practices on large scale multiple baseline projects
  • Scripting in Bash, Python
  • AEGIS BMD experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a local/virtual team environment
  • Strong analysis and mathematical skills
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.


Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
