About the role

By joining us at an early stage, you will design, build and secure the cloud infrastructure you've always wanted for yourself, and make decisions that will shape our product and company, directly impacting developers around the globe.

We are looking for engineers with deep specialization in securing cloud infrastructure platforms. We are particularly interested in experience with container security.

You will:

• Plan and design for Render's security needs as we build out our infrastructure while partnering with engineers across the company
• Help design and build security and observability tools to monitor the security of our infrastructure.
• Develop, implement, and maintain infrastructure security services
• Collaborate with other engineers to help keep our platform stable, predictable, and secure
• Participate in our on-call rotation, with the rest of the engineering team

We’re looking for:

• Experience designing and building security systems and tools, particularly with a major cloud provider
• Ability to diagnose and fix security reliability problems in cloud infrastructure workloads
• Security hardening skills, especially in the context of untrusted workloads
• Experience securing Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, and Ansible
• Experience building out security, particularly as an early engineer at a rapidly growing startup, in particular securing SaaS platforms

• Although we prefer a mostly in-person work environment, we are working remotely until it is safe to use public transportation and gather in groups again.
• We encourage everyone to take a half-day off from work every week as we can all use some time off to manage the additional stress from the pandemic.
