Social Media Manager / VP

Enterprise Services and Public Affairs seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders, including our colleagues.

The Global Communications team is a nimble group in Enterprise Services and Public Affairs that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, ranging from executive communications and public engagements to quarterly earnings and corporate reputation programs as well as communications that support our lines of business.

The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media, drive engagement with colleagues and develop external and internal digital communications for a global workforce of more than 200,000 colleagues. Within Citi, the team works with many internal partners, including senior leadership, and regularly coordinates closely with other members of the Enterprise Services and Public Affairs team across the world.

The VP, Social Media Manager is a key member of Communications team within the Enterprise Services and Public Affairs organization. You will work with senior leadership and partners throughout the Global Communications organization and businesses to support reputation management and drive engagement on Citi’s social media and digital channels. The person in this role should be comfortable working across various team functions in support of larger communications goals and will be actively involved in content management and development, process managing, measurement and social listening.


  • In partnership with the Head of Digital Content and Social Media, develop and drive Citi’s social media and digital content strategy
  • Work with the team to advance Citi’s core communications goals and objectives across social and digital channels
  • Assist in development of content and/or content strategy to support core social media campaigns across corporate and executive channels
  • Use social listening tools to identify trends and opportunities relevant to Citi and monitor key issues and conversations, partnering with care team to triage issues and escalate appropriately
  • Provide guidance and counsel on content distribution across internal and external channels
  • Support social and digital elements of live and virtual live events in partnership with PR, production and digital teams
  • Coordinate content scheduling and publishing across corporate social channels including LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and emerging platforms using content management tool, partnering with internal stakeholders to identify overlaps and gaps across business units or initiatives 
  • Support editorial strategy and manage regular content updates on newsroom
  • Work with teammates to create custom web experiences surrounding key events and activations 
  • Liaise between tech team and communications, marketing or business stakeholders to make regular content updates to corporate website
  • Assist teams in sourcing and developing creative assets for optimal use and performance across channels, partnering with creative and media teams when needed
  • Use metrics reports, social listening analyses, audits and monitoring to continually adapt and improve Citi’s social media presence
  • Be knowledgeable about new trends and opportunities on core and emerging social media platforms, identifying white space and opportunities for Citi
  • Be a steward of brand voice, being mindful of consistency across business units and activations
  • Collaborate with agency partners to support Citi initiatives, programs and campaigns
  • Partner closely with Communications leadership and teams to inform and advise on both ongoing communications work and areas of opportunity
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards


  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications, marketing or another related field
  • Knowledge of communications or marketing and 6 years of increased responsibility for business management, preferably with a large and complex organization
  • Extensive knowledge of social listening tools and proven ability to analyze multiple data inputs and deliver clear, actionable insights to internal partners
  • Experience distilling complex subject matter into easily-understood digital content
  • Ability to adapt copy across social and digital channels 
  • Subject matter expertise in social media platforms and trends
  • Experience interfacing and collaborating with individuals in technical roles
  • Extensive knowledge of social media channels and platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube)
  • Familiarity with content management tools such as Sprinklr
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Familiarity with web content and optimizing user experience
  • A leader who will implement initiatives effectively and proactively drive projects forward
  • Strong communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and ability to influence senior executives
