About the Job:

The Social Media Manager, Retail will be responsible for maintaining the Holistic Industries’ current Liberty Cannabis and associated retail store social media accounts to drive new and existing customers into Liberty retail stores. The Social Media Marketing, Retail position will focus on building brand presence, creating dynamic content, educating customers, engaging our community, and facilitating customer service issues. This skilled social media guru and communicator with a deep understanding of social voice, tone, style and creative storytelling is a key part of our marketing team. This role requires a detailed understanding of publishing tools, analytics tools, and social marketing technology, as well as all native platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and beyond). 


The Social Media Manager, Retail must be able to demonstrate a clear ability to develop tactics and campaigns that drive the business goals: audience growth, engagement, reach, maintenance, churn mitigation and more. A knowledge of the cannabis industry and its complex marketing & advertising regulations is preferred.  


  • Build and implement goal-oriented social media programs across appropriate channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and other emerging social media platforms 
  • Collaborate with retail store management to build local content into the national content feeds highlighting our local stores, and product highlights  
  • Execute social media publishing strategies ensuring that all posts are accurate, punctual, safe, adhere to State regulations, and on brand. 
  • Develop and post content to social media sites that is compliant with state regulations, as well as Facebook and Instagram community standards. 
  • Create unique and compelling content that drives retail acquisition of Liberty Retail across social media platforms. 
  • Develop plans, influencer partnerships, local communities/groups, tools, and agencies that help achieve business goals. 
  • Manage relationships with external agencies/design teams to brief and manage original content for distribution. 
  • Manage daily social communication, consumer listening and response, sentiment analysis and inquiries. 
  • Monitor and engage in retail-related online conversations. 
  • Partner with customer service to respond to all social media questions, comments, and direct messages in a timely and appropriate manner, while providing best in class customer service. 
  • Develop monthly reports focusing on core insights and learnings that will be delivered and monitored by the executive Marketing team

About You: 

General:

Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state marijuana licensing regulations.


Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communication, marketing or similar 
  • 3+ years of social media marketing campaign management, publishing, editorial, content creation and distribution required (in-house or agency). 


Required Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Understanding of or open to learning about cannabis social culture in both the medical and recreational markets 
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, metrics and tracking, including Sprout Social 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and planning skills with meticulous attention to detail 
  • Strong understanding of how brands can participate in social media in an authentic way 
  • Expert understanding of internet, social and meme culture and how to credibly and sensitively work within it whilst maintaining brand safety. 
  • Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects under strict deadlines. 
  • Ability to collect, analyze and use social data to effect change. 
  • Familiarity with Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Photoshop, and/or InDesign. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of the cannabis industry and its complex marketing & advertising regulations is preferred 
  • Understanding of social media platform rules and regulations with cannabis. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint 
  • Strong attention to detail, highly motivated, self-directed, and innovative 
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic
