Social Media Manager

Bustle Digital Group is seeking a full-time Social Media Manager to join our Culture & Innovation team, overseeing social media operations for three brands: Inverse, Input, and Mic.

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, capable of juggling many tasks, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The Social Media Manager, Culture & Innovation will work closely with the editorial teams for BDG’s Culture & Innovation collection, and be responsible for writing social copy, scheduling posts, and running analytics reports for Inverse. In addition, the Social Media Manager will be responsible for managing the social media strategists for Mic and Input — overseeing social strategy for all three brands. Other responsibilities may include taking lead on social partnerships, creating original social content for our various channels, and working with the larger BDG social team on cross-brand initiatives. 

Applicants should have a passion for science, tech, gaming, entertainment and internet culture; have familiarity with leading social platforms; and possess strong communication skills. A great work ethic, ability to take initiative and a deep understanding of Inverse’s voice are a must — as well as a general understanding of the brand identities and voices of Input and Mic. 


  • Execute day-to-day posting and scheduling for Inverse on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Manage other members of the Culture & Innovation social team
  • Create visual content for Instagram and TikTok
  • Regularly pitch new, innovative social concepts and ideas
  • Coordinate social strategy with the edit teams of Input, Inverse and Mic
  • Use analytic tools to track growth and success across social channels
  • Manage outreach to aggregators such as Flipboard and Apple News


  • 2-3 years experience working in social media
  • Ability to write optimized, smart social copy
  • Thorough understanding of Inverse’s voice and a passion for using social platforms to reach audiences in innovative ways
  • General understanding of brand identities for Input and Mic
  • Ability to identify and apply emerging, on-brand trends to social strategy
  • Advanced knowledge in consumer tech and internet culture
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Willingness to alter workflow with a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Basic video editing skills
