Social Media Manager

Big Sky, MT

The Social Media Manager, reporting into the Sr.Manager of Brand, will oversee the resort’s social media channels and expected to consistently represent the brands voice and identity across social audiences. 

 

The core responsibilities of this role include the development and execution of annual social strategies to increase brand affinity, love, and engagement. 


In addition, they will manage content creation, community engagement, and collaborate with internal teams to support seasonal brand and business objectives.

 

The ideal candidate will deliver strategic thinking, track performance metrics, and stay current on social media trends to effectively promote the Big Sky brand and enhance the resort’s digital presence.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Management: Plan, manage, and oversee daily operations of all resort social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn), including content calendars, community management, and engagement.
  • Campaign Development: Create and implement social media campaigns to promote Big Sky Resort products and experiences, aligning with marketing strategies and sales objectives.
  • Community Engagement: Monitor and respond to feedback on social channels, including resort review platforms (Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp), to foster a positive relationship with the audience.
  • Content Capture: Facilitate the capture of dynamic, real-time content that resonates with resort social media audiences and serves broader marketing objectives, ensuring versatility for potential use across multiple channels and platforms.
  • Production Logistics: Support comprehensive content capture efforts, including developing and managing creative briefs, location scouting and logistics, creating and maintaining production schedules, overseeing talent management and payments, and implementing efficient systems for ingesting, organizing, and archiving brand assets and content.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Big Sky marketing team, Boyne Resorts sister properties, and other departments to align on creative projects and ensure consistent messaging across initiatives.
  • Performance Tracking: Analyze and report on platform performance metrics to optimize content and engagement strategies.
  • Influencer & Partnerships: Support influencer marketing strategies and expand a network of creators and partners to amplify the resort’s social presence.
  • Live Event Coverage: Lead live social coverage of resort events, ensuring timely content delivery across platforms, including during weekends and evenings.
  • Paid Social Strategy: Collaborate with digital marketing teams and media agencies on paid social media strategies and optimization.
  • Industry Trends & Best Practices: Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to maintain relevance and drive engagement.
  • Brand Growth: Build meaningful connections with target audiences to grow social media following, engagement, and overall brand affinity.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Hospitality or Communication.
  • Experience in the hospitality, outdoor industry and/or ski resort experience preferred
  • 3+ years managing social media channels for a brand or organization.
  • A strong understanding of platform-specific best practices and adaptability to evolving trends.
  • Experience developing and executing social media campaigns, content calendars, and community engagement strategies.
  • Ability to curate content that aligns with the brand voice and marketing goals, while ensuring visual and narrative consistency to resonate with target audiences.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g. Sprout Social)
  • Proficiency using analytical tools (e.g., Google Analytics, native platform insights, Sprout Social).
  • Experience managing online communities and customer service interactions on review platforms (e.g. Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to respond diplomatically and thoughtfully to both positive and negative feedback.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with marketing teams and external agencies or partners to align on overarching strategies and campaigns.
  • Experience managing relationships with influencers, content creators, and external vendors including photographers/videographers.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate event schedules.
  • Proficient with software programs including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

  • The salary range for this position is $70k-$80k annually. This role is eligible for bonus.
