Social Media Manager

Remote Peoria, IL

The Social Media Manager will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing strategies for the social media accounts of our clients.


As a Social Media Manager, my objectives are:

  • Planning and developing social media campaigns
  • Crafting compelling content or working with related team members to develop content
  • Engaging meaningfully with customers and followers on multiple social channels
  • Communicating effectively to all stakeholders including senior management and content developers


The outcomes I need to produce for the clients are:

  • Consistency between overarching brand or marketing strategies and social media activities
  • Positive interactions between brand and social media audience
  • Education on social media best practices and frequent updates on social media performance
  • ROI on social media investments through successful campaigns measured through defined goals, like rise in brand loyalty, engagement, employee participation, reach, conversions, inbound traffic, etc.


The outcomes I need to produce for the agency are:

  • Education and collaboration on social: help internal teams learn more about social media best practices and how to create the best content for different social channels
  • Profitability through efficient and creative content creation
  • Successful pitches/proposals for social media projects to help win new business (you’ll develop these with other roles at the agency)


To produce these outcomes, I need to:

  • Post and monitor content across social media accounts
  • Define KPIs for social media campaigns
  • Analyze running campaigns
  • Stay on top of the latest social media trends
  • Help develop community guidelines for specific channels
  • Analyze customer expectations according to past social media activity
  • Use social media marketing tools if required (like Hootsuite)
  • Monitor associated SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Establish relationships with social media influencers to develop a strong network
  • Collaborate well with related agency service lines like the creative, media and analytics teams
  • Understand earned, owned, paid, and shared channels


The skills and abilities I require are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field is encouraged
  • Minimum two years’ experience
  • Experience with content creation
  • Creative problem solving
  • Strategic thinking
  • Verbal communication
  • Cooperation and working well in a team-based environment
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging social media trends
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized


To produce these outcomes, I have decision-making authority over the following:

  • Proposed social media content recommendations
  • Social media best practices application


Leading indicators of my success are:

  • Client satisfaction with social media deliverables and performance
  • Ability to build a community, not just an audience, on social channels (quality over quantity)


Long-term indicators of my success are:

  • Client growth and development in social media
  • Consistent process around social media for the agency (could include tasks like client on-boarding, creative team and media team collaboration, reporting, etc.)
  • Portfolio of social media case studies from client work
