Social Media Manager

Our Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, our fully autonomous ride-hailing service, as well as Waymo Via, our trucking and local delivery service. To date, Waymo has driven over 20 million miles autonomously on public roads across 25 U.S. cities and conducted over 20 billion miles of simulation testing.


On the Waymo Marketing team, you will help to connect people with the magic and impact of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. Our team has the unique opportunity to not only grow Waymo's brand from the ground up, but to also build societal acceptance for autonomous driving technology for the first time in history. We build thoughtful marketing strategy, positioning, messaging and creative assets to deliver messages that matter to our audience, communicated through anything from video content, to social media interactions, to immersive physical experiences. We also shape Waymo's go-to-market initiatives, helping to transform Waymo into a thriving business with a growing user base.


In this role you'll:

  • Monitor Waymo’s social media channels, engaging directly with our community and those in the industry, ensuring everyone experiences positive interactions with our brand. When necessary, escalate issues reported on social media, identify root causes, and help close the loop between the individual and our relevant internal teams.
  • Execute Waymo's social media strategy, driving the development, production and distribution of social media content, including influencer activations, tech campaigns, and employment brand content across relevant social media channels.
  • Maintain Waymo's social content calendar, partnering closely with Waymo's Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, and Legal teams to align on priorities.
  • Partner with the Social Media Lead, act as a steward of Waymo’s social brand with conversational flair and a critical eye for overall copy structure and grammatical details.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest cultural and social media trends, platforms, product features, and watch-outs; Identify real-time social moments with relevance to Waymo to increase brand conversation.


At a minimum, we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a community manager or social media manager
  • Successful track record of collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid project management skills communication skills 
  • Great attention to detail, particularly with copywriting
  • Passionate about the future of transportation and telling stories that educate, entertain, and inspire 


It's preferred if you have:

  • Prior experience navigating social media compliance across regulated industries such as automotive, healthcare, or financial technology
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex subject matters and the creative skills needed to translate these topics into digestible social content for a broad range of audiences
  • Strong interest in creating original short-form video content that connects our brand, technology, and talent with a broader audience. Deep understanding of video platform capabilities and limitations, as well as UGC trends is a bonus.
  • Open and eager to experiment with new tactics and platforms to engage and build communities.
